Nearly two weeks ago I decided to wear a tutu to work. And then I felt like wearing a tutu the following day. And then I decided that that week would be Tutu Week, so I wore a different tutu every day (I have a collection). The above photo is a selection of some of my tutu antics for the week (see more on my Instagram page).

When I continued to wear tutus beyond that week, I decided that this month could be Tutu Month. So if I wear tutus 70% of the time, then I can declare it officially. I realised that last month I forgot to celebrate that it was my 12 year anniversary of being a Full-Time Tarot Reader! Even though I knew it was happening I forgot to announce it. So here is the announcement! And perhaps wearing tutus a month later is my own way of celebrating.

Even though I forgot my work anniversary, I am not forgetting my 10 year anniversary with my partner, and to celebrate we will be heading to Uluru for 5 days at the end of June. So I won't be available for tarot readings on Thursday June 25, Sunday June 28 and Monday June 29. I'll be back to work as usual on Tuesday June 30. If I don't respond to your emails, texts or phone calls during that time, that's why! I'll be with The Centre of This Land.

And speaking of anniversaries, on July 7 I will have had my Very Own Tarot Office upstairs from Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher for two years, yAy! I love my room, as do others. The comments people often make upon entering are "wow, I love it!", "it feels so warm!", "it feels lovely in here!". And I really love that there is such amazing food downstairs for me to eat everyday.

If coming for a reading at my office isn't feasible for you, having a reading via Skype or Email can be just as good a choice (often even people in Sydney take advantage of these other options due to lack of time or because they have a question that warrants a shorter reading). My email readings are different to how a lot of other readers do them in that I don't type the reading: I meditate for a few minutes, shuffle the tarot cards until it feels right, and then place them in a spread. I then speak your reading into my digital recorder. Then I email you the file for you to listen to at your convenience. If you are curious about an email reading with me you can find all the different lengths and prices listed on my website.

Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Eight of Cups

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

I am so happy that I am finally getting to talk to you all about the Eight of Cups! For the last two newsletters it was looking like the Eight of Cups was shaping up to be the Card of the Month but then it always got pipped right at the end by another card that appeared even more frequently (the Knight of Cups in April and The Star in May).

I really wanted to talk to you about the Eight of Cups! But I also felt the need to play fair, so I let the others overtake in their rightful manner. So know that this Eight has been hovering in the background since April, and is now strong enough to shine forth and let its wisdom come through in a more tangible way.

So, the Eight of Cups. There it stands, beckoning us to let go of what we THINK we know and get to the task of discovering what is REALLY going on deep inside.

The Eight of Cups stands more for experiential wisdom rather than rote learning. With this archetype we are reminded of the importance of listening to what is awakening in our own consciousness rather than the structured consensus handed to us from the upper echelons of society.

This Eight gives us the opportunity to embrace what we have learned from the experience of waking up every day in our bodies. With that knowledge, we can then carefully move forward, with curiosity and deep perception.

I have selected three 8 of Cups images from my tarot collection this month, so that they can speak to you for themselves:

The Eight of Cups from Stella's Tarot by Stella Kaoruko & Takako Hoei says, "Shh, be still. Listen to sounds the Earth makes as it moves. Don't go back to collect anything you no longer need. Move forward with integrity. Memories are less important out here. Embrace the irrepressible and intuitive urge to keep on growing and learning."

The Eight of Cups from Sara M. Pellerin's Fractal Tarot gets a bit loose and says, "Break open the part of your mind that told you to stay in servitude. Crack open the part of your heart that said you cannot go on. Unfold and refold and unfold again, remembering that there is always more to crack open - so why fear the process? You are changing."

And for the Eight of Cups from Karen Kuykendall's Tarot of the Cat People I thought I would share a poem with you that I wrote during Carrie Paris' presentation at Readers Studio this year in NYC.

Towards the end of the 2 1/2 hour session she asked us to randomly pick a card from the Cups suit and then write a love poem to ourselves.

I stood up and shared this poem with the other 200 odd tarot readers at the conference, and now I would like to share it with you all, as another way of exploring this particular archetype (I was using Tarot of the Cat People during this part of the conference):

You have moved away from the crowd for so long, my love.

I have watched you long to dive into the crowd, yet know the importance of diving into your own wisdom.

Come back, my love, and know that you don't have to be separate to grow within, nor do you need to lose yourself in order to belong.

May you walk well with the Eight of Cups this month, and beyond, as you wish.

Best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

This month I used one of my wackiest decks - Tarot 22 (Hontu no Jibun o Shiru Uranai) by Toshiko Tuchihashi.

Whenever I do a reading with this deck my mind starts to bend a bit, so the result is an amusing and bizarre take on the month's events. If you wish to indulge, read here.

[I generally post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first week (or so) of every month.]

You are more than welcome to hang out in Suzy Spoon's café before and after your reading. In fact, I highly recommend it - the food is amazing!

I make and sell my very own delicious blend of chai tea - Psychic Sarah's Queen of Cups Chai. I personally select, grind and blend the spices and package every single packet of chai.

1 packet of 220g chai costs AUD$20, and will make you at least 48 large cups of delicious authentic chai tea. (That's 16 litres of chai - have a party!) Read a review about it here.

You can drink a pot of my chai in-house and/or purchase a packet to take home with you at Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher, Newtown, and Petty Cash Cafe, Marrickville. Or you can order it online - I ship all over the world!
