Tarot tales from Newtown, Sydney, with a brief mention perhaps, of chai and other fascinating things.

This month my bicycle had a six-night holiday in my tarot office! Usually out on the street so that it can be properly admired, I carried it up the stairs one night so it could stay dry when the rain became rather incessant. Usually I am a lover of riding in the rain, but the cold and wind wasn't something I was in the mood for that night. When the rain didn't let up all week, my bike stayed on display in the room basking in the warmth, incense and admiration from clients. I enjoyed having it in my office with me, though I understand that the community likes to appreciate it too, so I will endeavour to ride it more often, and park it outside!

There is a new FREE Ebook out called Real Life Lessons from the Major Arcana, and I am one of the contributors! Brigit Esselmont of Biddy Tarot asked 22 tarot readers to write about one of the Major Arcana cards, from a personal perspective. I wrote about Justice, and shared a story about the time I first started to truly understand this archetype, by way of an experience with a homeless woman whom I consider one of my teachers on the path. You can read my story, plus all the rest by downloading the free Ebook here.

If you enjoy these newsletters you may also enjoy my monthly Tarot Reading for the Collective. In the first week (or so) of every month I post a tarot reading for the whole community on my blog. I ask four questions and use a different deck each month. This month's reading features Tarot of the Crone by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince, and through the imagery and the intent of this powerful deck, a reading emerged that packs a bit more of a punch than usual. You can read it here.

Tarot Card(s) of the Month ~ The Queen & King of Cups
For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

This month the Queen and King of Cups turned up so many times together, that I figured I should write about them both! I prefer to approach these cards in a more wholistic way, rather than an assuming that they are two halves, with the Queen possessing the 'feminine' qualities and the King possessing the 'masculine' qualities. Gender can be a fluid thing, and if we approach all tarot archetypes in this wholistic way, we are less likely to trip ourselves up or limit our perceptions due to conditioning.

So in keeping with the theme of fluidity, it's almost as if this Queen & King want to wash us with the element of water, they want to remind us of how we can hold our emotions in a way that is powerFUL rather than powerLESS.

We can still feel our usual human feelings of sadness, anxiety, excitement, joy (and oh so much more), though we can learn how to contain ourselves so that we don't deplete ourselves. It's not so much about 'toning things down', not at all, it's more about being powerful within what we feel, taking full accountability for our actions, and noticing the spaces around us so that we can bring in awareness that is useful to how we live rather than destructive.

This King and Queen are asking us to pay attention to what we offer and what we receive, and making sure what we offer is authentic and that what we receive is appropriate for our growth.

Let us now listen to the various voices of the Queen & King of Cups, accompanied by images from my personal tarot deck collection.

The Queen of Cups from Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall says, "Know what makes you happy, and share from that space," and the King says, "Hold boundaries that protect you from those who don't honour your happiness."

The Father of Cups from The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans say, "Move swiftly to that which requires your heartful gaze", and the Mother says, "Be bold with what you share, whether visible or invisible."

The Queen of Cups from Fractal Tarot by Sara M. Pellerin say, "Dive into the centre of your being and accept the parts of yourself you were taught to ignore or be fearful of." The King says, "There is much magic to be done with these unacknowledged aspects."

The Queen of Chalices from the Prisma Visions Tarot by James R. Eads say, "Find those you can pour your love into whilst simultaneously feeling their love pour back into you. Compassionate love is most powerful and it does exist." The King adds, "You will attract the ones who embody this love, by practising it yourself."

May you give and receive well,
'Til next month, best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

This month I used the powerful Tarot of the Crone by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. This month I asked the following questions of the cards:
What do we need to speak of more? What do we need to speak of less? Who can we turn to when our hearts are heavy? Who will bring us home to ourselves?
You can read the responses to those questions here.
