Welcome to my first Tarot Newsletter for 2016. A big year is ahead for us all no doubt, as we navigate this mysterious existence. I am looking forward to the ceaseless offerings of change and teachings from the different facets of life, and I trust that you are too.

My Summer Solstice gift to myself in December was the plaque that you can see in the above photo. I find it hilarious (and also exciting) that I have a professional plaque such as a lawyer, doctor or dentist might have (though they are more likely to have the more fancy brass versions...)! I enjoy being a part of a global tarot tribe who present our work in a way that is professional, and honouring of the assistance that we give to our communities. I've still got another lot of signage to get done, I'll keep you posted. :)

The latest Tarotscopes are out if you are interested in looking at a tarot reading about your astrological sun sign. My tarot sister Siobhan Rene of Siobhan's Mirror in the United States organises 11 other tarot readers every month to present the readings. This month I did the reading for Aries. You can read what I wrote and/or your own sign's reading here.

This week I featured in a podcast with Andrew McGregor, a tarot reader I met last year at The Readers' Studio in NYC. Andrew runs an esoteric emporium called The Hermit's Lamp in Toronto, Canada. He has a fantastic collection of podcasts where he chats with different tarot readers about their perspectives on life. I really enjoyed our chat, and I can also highly recommend his online programs if you are wanting to learn more about the tarot. Listen to the podcast to hear some behind-the-scenes out-takes from Psychic Sarah, as well as our discussion about our journeys towards becoming tarot readers, travelling in India, and the wonders of meditation, intuition, tutus and more!

Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Nine of Cups

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

Watching the cards come out upon my tarot table this month, I was wondering what card would be the most prevalent. It certainly was a fairly steady race between the Six of Cups and the Nine of Cups. The Tower made a jolly good attempt to get the crown towards the end, but the Nine had already crossed the finish line.

Oh, Nine of Cups, I was almost tempted to ignore your sterling efforts to get me to talk about you, and I am glad I noticed this resistance in me, because clearly I need to get to know you better! [Though if you want to read more about The Tower, and let's face it, who doesn't (?!) - it featured in my Tarot Reading for the Collective this month.]

The Nine of Cups could indicate a resistance to just going with the flow of life. We have carefully finished filling up our nine cups, and we might not want to just break loose and share what we have found with our fellow beings.

Though the Nine of Cups can also present a time for reflection, and trusting in our capacity to think deeply about issues that we have been "too busy" (cough cough) to sit down and really observe properly. The Nine of Cups watches as we rush around exclaiming, "I just really don't have the time to slow down in any way!" and responds, "Hmmm. Really? Are you sure you're not just in overdrive and afraid to make time for the full, authentic experience of life?" Bloody Nine of Cups!

Helpful  Nine of Cups.

So let us listen to the various voices of the Nine of Cups - with images from my tarot deck collection.

The
Nine of Cups from Kim Krans' Wild Unknown Tarot  says, "Hold still, reflect, move with awareness, try to gaze outside of your own mind to see what is going on for other beings. By watching others you can sometimes learn more about yourself, and the changes you wish to make."

The
Nine of Cups from Ellen Lorenzi-Prince's Dark Goddess Tarot  says, "Come to the water and take your fill of what I offer. I am offering you the chance to surround yourself with a flow of life that transcends your current perspective."

The
Nine of Cups from Stella Kaoruko & Takako Hoei's Stella's Tarot says, "Choose what you will, but ask yourself, do I need all that I have collected? Know when you have had your fill, and are ready to transform what you have found into insights that pour into the community in a way that joyfully inspires, rather than encouraging the ill-effects of comparison.

May your life flow well in the weeks ahead, and beyond.

'Til next month, best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

This month I used The Relative Tarot by Carrie Paris. Read on for ways to navigate the month and year ahead. This is a unique tarot deck - made up of vintage photographs overlaid with tarot imagery - and it inspired me to do the Collective reading a little differently than usual. The stats say that people are enjoying the difference!
[I generally post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first week (or so) of every month.]
