|The Craft Maltsters Guild has made tentative plans to host our annual conference in Portland, ME. The event will take place January 22-23, 2021 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland. The Holiday Inn will serve as both our host hotel and conference venue in 2021. Located along the picturesque shores of Casco Bay, the hotel is a short walk from downtown Portland and a short drive from the Portland International Jetport.
A big thanks to our friends at Blue Ox Malthouse and Allagash Brewing Co. for nominating Portland, ME as a potential conference site! We're excited to check out your hood!
Some quick facts about Portland, ME:
- Beer: There are currently 11.3 breweries per capita in Maine. That's the 3rd highest in the U.S.! In Portland alone, there are nearly 30 breweries including our friends at Allagash! For those that want to scope out the beer scene ahead of time, Thrillist put together this list of top Portland breweries.
- Art: Portland is also home to a strong arts district. The Portland Museum of Art is just a short walk from our host hotel. Other sites of interest include the Maine Historical Society & Museum and Maine College of Art.
- Food: Portland is considered the "foodiest small town" so get ready for some good grub. Nationally-known restaurants, hidden local gems, interesting pubs, street food, and lobster shacks are all on the menu here and paired with some seriously beautiful ocean views.
