Radon Licensing

In 2015 the Minnesota Legislature licensed radon professionals.
Effective June 1, 2020 radon mitigation professionals and companies must be licensed by the Minnesota Department of Health and start to use mitigation system tags.
New construction is exempted from this system. Tags and licensing for installing radon control systems in newly constructed buildings prior to a certificate of occupancy being issued are exempt.
A company installing a radon mitigation system in an existing building needs to be licensed.  Each licensed company must identify a radon mitigation professional (who also needs to be licensed) and use radon system tags ($75) for each project.

Prevailing Wage Reminder

The Plumbers and Pipefitters Locals are putting together the prevailing wage rates for all countries. ALL contractors on ANY type of project may participate in the prevailing wage survey.

Setting the wage rate in all counties eliminates unfair contractors' ability to pay sub-standard wages on publicly funded projects and helps to keep contractors working. The last few years non-signatory contractors have steadily increased the number of surveys they turn in and have set the prevailing wage rate in many counties for some crafts.
