Coronavirus Update

Dear RMI Supporter,

In these unprecedented times, the safety of our community is our top priority. In accordance with recent state orders as well as the current UC Davis campus closure, the Robert Mondavi Institute is postponing all of our spring talks and events.

We are still planning lectures on the topics of mapping grapevine genomes, the addictive properties of sugary drinks, the future of popular varietal wines in a changing climate, and even our annual fundraiser TASTE, which raised almost $10,000 last year for enhancements to the UC Davis Good Life Garden—all dates are currently TBA.

While we work remotely, we will investigate presenting these lectures via livestreaming. In the meantime, I invite you to peruse our current library of lecture videos, as well as to follow us on Facebook where we are continuing to post news and updates about the institute and UC Davis food and beverage experts. (We are also on Instagram, check us out!)

Already this year we have presented a Walt Klenz Wine Business Speakers Series talk, and Unrivaled: California’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Highlights from both are below and include links to a video of each lecture.

Selina Wang, research director for the UC Davis Olive Center and Brady Whitlow, CEO of Corto Olive Company discussed how UC Davis research and extensive collaboration with innovators in the olive oil industry are ensuring California’s place as a world leader in the production of the highest quality extra virgin olive oil.
