"Say not in grief that he is no more,
but live in thankfulness that he was."
– Hebrew Proverb
Hello <<First Name>>,
As many of you know, Dan Appelrouth passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, after a 2½-month battle that began with a fall from a bike in Amelia Island, Florida.
Dan was passionately interested in helping the poor. He founded the Atlanta Hunger Relief Fund and single-handedly raised more than $180,000 which was donated to vital community food-related charitable organizations in Atlanta.
Many of you have continued to contribute to the fund and we are so grateful and pleased to be able to continue Dan's mission of feeding Atlanta's hungry through your generosity.
In addition to his passion for feeding the hungry, Dan was also passionate about music. He was a classically trained singer and lay cantor whose beautiful baritone voice carried songs and prayers out into the world. In recent years, Dan combined his two passions and produced 4 CDs and gave concerts in retirement centers to raise money for the hunger fund.
Dan was a man of integrity, good deeds, and humility who touched thousands of lives in Atlanta.
This Sunday, Dan will be remembered at the annual Temima Benefit Concert. Dan emceed this concert for twelve years. This year, his son Jed will be the emcee. The concert will feature Rabbi Menashe Goldberger, Judy Cole, and Alan Knieter. The service will also include a video montage of Dan's performances, as well as a duet by Jed and David and words and poetry by Arlene.
The concert takes place Sunday, December 11th at 1:30 PM, at the AJA Theater, 5200 Northland Road. For more information about the concert, please go to www.temima.org/benefit-concert or call Menashe or Randee at 404-325-5560.
Thank you so much for your generosity and caring. You have helped more people than you know.
