"Many people worry about their own stomachs and the state of other people's souls. The real task is to do the opposite: to worry about other people's stomachs and the state of your own soul." — popular Jewish saying
September is an important time for people working on hunger issues because it is Hunger Action Month. Feeding America established Hunger Action Month in 2008 to remind everyone that hunger exists - throughout our nation and in every community.
Help During Hunger Action Month
I know people get busy in the fall with kids going back to school and activities that were on hold for the summer starting back up again, so I won’t take a lot of your time this month. If you’ve been thinking about contributing to the Atlanta Hunger Relief Fund, September is a great time to do so! You’ll be adding your voice to thousands of others who are raising awareness about and money to feed the hungry — especially during Hunger Action Month.
National Grandparents Day - September 13
If you need another reason to support the Atlanta Hunger Relief Fund this month, you might want to know that National Grandparents Day is tomorrow, September 13! We all know that Grandma doesn’t need another knickknack and Grandpa already has enough ties! Here are a few ideas for gifts they will love:
• Donation in your grandparents’ names to the Atlanta Hunger Relief Fund
Share your love for your grandparents and help feed Atlanta’s hungry at the same time!
• Book a private concert for your grandparents! Invite family and friends to a toe-tapping, finger-snapping fun concert in honor of your grandparents.
Whether you make a cash donation or buy a CD, forward this newsletter to friends, like the AHRF Facebook page or donate time at a food shelf, your contribution matters. Thank you so much for your continued support!
