Our Community Picnic and 'Meet the Teacher' night was held on Friday 12 February. It was a beautiful night and we want to thank you for attending this evening. The bouncy castles and lawn games were a new addition that added a fun element to the night for our ākonga (students) and mātua (parents).

We hope you gained a helpful insight into classroom programmes through the kaiako (teacher) presentations and discussions.

Thank you to those amazing helpers who attended our annual Working Bee. So much was achieved and we are grateful to you for your time, energy and tools. The school is looking great because of it!

"It has been a real pleasure to work alongside you all.  You have such a committed bunch of teachers at Myross Bush, with a real focus on the students and what their needs are, always seeking out how they can work with the community to support these."

Carla Werder - Sport Southland 'Made to Move' School Facilitator, Dec 2020
On Tuesday Miles from Chatbus visited our school and met all the students in an assembly for the first time. Each class also got to visit the Chatbus during the day.

In the assembly, he showed the students a picture of a hamburger and likened it to problems we may have, left unsolved, can become mouldy and messy. He wanted ākonga to know that he is here to help with these problems.

The Chatbus will visit our school every Tuesday during the school term. Over the next few weeks at the end of each Tuesday, it will be parked in the main carpark for parents who may want to view it and ask Miles any questions.

We are fortunate to have this service - one of only 5 schools in Invercargill, and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our students.

It was great news to hear we were moving back to Alert Level 1 so quickly this week. While new cases in the community are always disappointing to hear of, it is reassuring to see how quickly they have been identified. I am sure we are all grateful for the efforts of our health workers, scientists and technicians in this regard, and the thousands of people who have been tested.

As a community, we need to avoid the complacency which New Zealanders tend to quickly move into when we are at lower alert levels. Please do continue to scan QR codes at the school gate and monitor closely for illness within your whānau.

Our focus as always will be to support the learning, safety and wellbeing of our ākonga and kaiako and we continue to be here to support you too.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s kaiako or me, if there is something you need assistance with.
