Friday 19 March 2021
On Tuesday last week it was great to have the Invercargill North Rotary group back again handing out free dictionaries to all our Year 4’s. There were some very happy campers! (FYI this programme has been operating since 2007!)
The nominations for this week's Myross Bush School Values Award are:

Luca Rutledge
Kotahitanga “Getting along together” - For being a kind friend to all and a great support person on the Chatbus. Tino pai Luca.

Chloe McArthur Te Papa Atawhai “Reduce, reuse, recycle and restore, replenish” - You are always super at tidy up time, are very responsible and a great role model to others. Ka pai Chloe.

Keeley Templeton Ngakau Tapatahi “Doing the right thing even when no one else is looking” - You set a high standard in Year 5 of what a role model looks like. Your initiative and integrity are valued in our class!

Tyler Milne Ngakau Tapatahi “Doing the right thing even when no one else is looking” - You are an amazing member of Matai, are always helping others and doing the right thing.

Madisyn Kennedy For displaying Kotahitanga “Getting along together”  in the classroom - Madisyn has been extra helpful recently especially as an IT Ninja volunteering to help other children log into their devices, always with a kind manner and a smile on her face.

Zack Trent For demonstrating Whakapai Ake “Be the best you can be" - Zack is working hard to be the best he can be and has shown he is now one of our Year 4 role models. Tino pai Zack.

This week's award goes to:
Bella Phillips For demonstrating Whakapai Ake “Be the best you can be" - Bella is always engaged in all areas of her learning and strives to be the best that she can be at all times. She is a great role model for those around her.
It has been disappointing to see growing numbers of students dropped off before 8.15am or still around at school after 3.15pm without parent supervision. This is not helpful or safe and I ask parents to respect these timeframes.
Unless they are bus students, children on the grounds outside this timeframe are the responsibility of parents.
If the pickup timerame is a challenge, we encourage you to enrol in the XO After School programme. XO has a van that picks students up from school.
Thank you.

Each year we appoint House Leaders for Johnston, Myers, Kerr and Ross Houses. Click on the link below to see who our 2021 elected leaders are.

"I am impressed with the ‘buddy programme’ initiative between Matai and Akotoa (Yr 5) students. We have noticed this to be a great support for our daughter starting school. Her buddy April has been a kind and supportive friend to her when she comes into the classroom to help with her letter sounds and also in the playground. We have also seen this beneficial to our son in Akotoa. He has an important role to play supporting his buddy and this has given him confidence. Thanks Myross Bush School for showing Ako the Active Learner ‘connection’ in practise."

Friends of School
The minutes of the last Friends of School meeting will be sent out shortly but we wanted to take this opportunity to thank the exiting FOS Executive: Mel Young, Tara McIntosh and Julie McEwan-Franks. These woman have been instrumental in running FOS over a number of years and we thank and honour them for that.

We also want to thank Andrea Patterson and Kelly Watt for their behind the scenes work in preparing FOS End of Year Financial documents for 2020.

Going forward it is exciting to see the new Executive team elected and in whom we are confident will lead us well in the next FOS chapter.  They are: Vic Sinclair (Chair), Karen Cook (Secretary) and Amy Rush (Treasurer). Read on to see how you can support them!

MYROSS BUSH FIBRE BROADBAND SURVEY

We are in the process of completing a feasibility survey for the installation of a privately funded Fibre Broadband network for the Myross Bush community.  This will require an initial contribution per property owner of an estimated $2,000.  However, this will be followed by 12 months of free ultra fast fibre connection.

Please complete the following survey which has more information on the proposed project.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could also discuss this with your neighbours to help us canvas the entire community.

Thank you for your time.
Michal Gray & Nick Redding.
