Thank you to our school community for joining us for the Fun Run on Tuesday this week. It was a fantastic day and the children had a blast (just check out the photos in the link below)!

Thank you also for joining with us in fundraising for Teacher Aide hours for 2021. The final numbers can not be confirmed until next week but at this stage, it is over $8,900!

We want to particularly thank Anna Moratti and the Student Leaders who brainstormed and helped design the course. Also to Mark Corson for providing the water tank and Les Cooper at Mitre 10 Mega for the discounted polythene water slide.  The water slide turned out to be the most loved obstacle by the students (and I think some parents also).

For families that fundraised online and ordered prizes, we expect these to arrive next week to school and will be given out then. If you missed the window to order your prize, please contact the office.

Below is a link to the Google Drive folder of photos that have been collected - thank you to those who have shared these.

Amelia Lindsay: for Kotahitanga “Getting along together” for the kind way she cares for others, especially our new visitors.

Charlotte Gentle: Whakapai Ake “Be the best you can be” You worked hard on your bridge last week and tried your best to produce a wonderful bridge prototype.

Evie Sanford: Te Papa Atawhai “Reduce, reuse, recycle and restore, replenish”  Evie always shows respect for our school environment by the way she cares for our classroom things and is a very reliable helper.

Isla Patterson: For thinking really carefully about Te Papa Atawhai “Reduce, reuse, recycle”  when creating your Christmas Tree decorations.

Bryn Coe: For showing Te Papa Atawhai "Reduce, reuse, recycle and restore, replenish” both in school and out. This term you have shown Te Papa Atawhai by looking after the worm farm and creating your Christmas decorations thoughtfully.

Quinn O'Connor: Kotahitanga “Getting along together”. You are incredibly helpful with the younger students at Myross Bush School. Watching you interact with them is fantastic! Thank you for being such a great leader.

The winner of the Values Trophy this week is:
Jack Madden: Whakapai Ake "Self Improvement". Jack has made a concerted effort this term to strive to 'be the best he can be' in all areas of his learning. Ka pai Jack!

Did you know that Mandarin is the second most commonly spoken language in the world?

We want to take this opportunity to thank William, our Kawaka Mandarin Teacher for his work with us this year. He has been teaching students every Monday in Kawaka, helping them develop their Mandarin and enlarging their cultural knowledge about China.

For the last 4-5 years we have been fortunate to have a working relationship with the Christchurch Confucious Institute who supply us with Mandarin teachers. As you can appreciate, this is now on hold until the border restrictions are eased.
The tuition lessons offered on Wednesdays each week over Term 3 + 4 have been enriching for enrolled students and the tutors have enjoyed coming out to our school for the day. Therefore this opportunity will continue for 2021!

Enrolments for this will open at the start of Term 1 but tutors are taking expressions of interest now. Please email the following tutors if you are interested in:
Attention Bus Families
If your child is ON the afternoon bus on the last day of school (Tuesday 15 Dec), can you please inform the school no later than Monday at 12pm so arrangements can be made to take them home at 2pm. Plans are being made for one loop only with all children on the bus together. Thank you.

Please note: You are welcome to print lists off from the website and shop elsewhere in town if you wish.
Our school uniform has been updated with our new logo! We are stoked with the new look of the bucket hat and t-shirt! The new t-shirt is made from an advanced fabric with a sublimated design that will not crinkle, fade or peel.
Please note: T-shirt samples are on their way and will be sized to the orders next week then ordered. These will then be distributed at the start of Term 1.

You can order yours today via the link below or ringing the school office between 9-1pm.
Last week the Southern Zone collected information from each of the schools to decide what the Zone Athletics would look like in 2021. The outcome is:
  1. Zone Athletics for 2021 and following years will no longer include 'junior' Athletics. All 'senior' students will be welcome to compete. (This includes 7 year olds for 60m and 100m).
  2. Zone Athletics for 2021 and following years will be held at Surrey Park where possible.
As a school, we will continue to have our own school-wide House Athletics Day in Term 1 each year.
