Reintroducing our Faithful Leaders podcast

Reintroducing our Faithful Leaders podcast

This week on the blog, Matt reintroduces our Faithful Leaders podcast, where our National Executive Director Daniel speaks with individuals of national influence. The interviews provide an insight into their personal faith and life experiences, providing another angle to our mission to raise the status of faith in today's society.
Recently, we have spent a lot of time emphasising the role that faith communities have played in responding to the pandemic. We have also been eager to remind people of the role they played prior to the pandemic and ought to play after it. As a national network of faith-based and community organisations seeking to serve their communities through social action, this is, of course, why FaithAction exists.

However, faith doesn’t just shape communities; it shapes individual lives too. And from around the time that our first lockdown began in March last year, Daniel, our National Executive Director, has been having conversations with individuals of national influence about the role that their personal faith has played in their own life experiences, in general and during our present crisis...

Survey on COVID-19, churches and communities

A new survey has been published from a research project led by the University of York in partnership with the Church of England, Historic England, the Association of English Cathedrals, the National Churches Trust and the Historic Religious Buildings Alliance.

The short survey should only take five minutes to complete but will make an important contribution to planning for the future. It concentrates on:

  1. Obtaining a snapshot of the levels of church and community needs and challenges at this point in the pandemic;
  2. Identifying the ways in church buildings and activities have continued to support communities;
  3. Churches’ plans for the remainder of the crisis period and for recovery;
  4. The resources and support which will be needed (especially from government) if churches are to mobilise their unique assets and maximise their contribution to rebuilding lives and communities.

The survey closes on 21st February 2021.

The FaithAction Coffee House

Join us for the next instalment of the FaithAction Coffee House - a chance for you to share stories, ideas, and challenges, and to learn from each other.

You’re likely to be facing many of the same challenges; why not see if anyone else has a solution!

Next week's theme will be
Domestic Abuse

At a previous Coffee House last May, we looked at the potential impact of the lockdown and domestic abuse.

We are revisiting the topic next week to discuss how the series of further lockdowns and restrictions have made it harder for people to access support. It has been reported that people are experiencing escalating abuse during the pandemic, due to living in lockdown with their abuser with less access to phoning for help and support from friends, family or specialist support services.

We will be hearing how faith-based organisations are:

  • Providing vital support to people that are experiencing abuse
  • Helping faith leaders to support people that may need it.

Panellists include:

  • Kathy Coe MBE, Founder, The Pathway Project
  • More to be confirmed
So join us on Wednesday 17th February at 11am by registering on Eventbrite below!
