Blaenavon World Heritage Centre and Library
Tuesday 30th October – Sunday 4th November 11am – 4pm
Frightfully fun family activities over the Halloween half term.
Tuesday 30th & Wednesday 31st Oct - Halloween Crafts £1 entry. Thursday 1st Nov - Animal Handling with lizards, snakes & more.  £3.50 per person per session.

11am - 12pm; 1pm - 2pm; 2.30pm - 3.30pm, Pre-booking essential.

Thursday 1st Nov - Story & Craft session in the Library at 2.30pm (pre-booking required). Free entry. Halloween Treasure Hunt with prizes - all week. £1 entry. Visit:

Blaenavon World Heritage Environmental Group
"The Iron Mountain Trail (part II)" guided walk. Saturday 27th October
Meet at Blaenavon World Heritage Centre at 10:00am. A strenuous walk of about 8km (5 miles) over paths which may become very muddy in wet weather. We follow old tracks and tramways to Keeper's Pond before returning to the World Heritage Centre. Suitable for older children, but not recommended for people with limited mobility.

Haunted History and Folklore Evening Tour at Blaenavon Ironworks
Tours on 29 & 31 October, and 3 November 2018. 7pm – 9pm
Join us for an evening tour of Blaenavon Ironworks, with ghost stories, spooky tales, historic folklore and ancient legends of Blaenavon and Blaenau Gwent.
Pre-book your place for this event by telephoning Blaenavon Ironworks on 01495 792615.
Tour is suitable for adults only.  £10.00 per person More information 
Spooky Halloween Day at Blaenavon Ironworks
Join in a Halloween-themed trail for a day of thrills and chills on 28th, 29 and 31st October – 10am – 4pm!
With a prize for the first 150 to complete our spooky trail through the Ironworks.  
Free entry to the site but £2 charge to take part in the trail. More information
Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway – Ghost Train 
27th, 28th, 30th & 31st October Trains are running from our Spooky Furnace Sidings station at regular intervals from 4pm through to 9pm. £6.00 per person.
All our visitors are encouraged to dress up in their spooky clothes (but not essential). Be prepared to be scared!
Pre-booking is not available for this event, please pay at the ticket office on the day.  Note: All children must be accompanied by an appropriate adult

Community News

Scarecrow winner unveiled at horticultural show
Scarecrows that were created by visitors to Blaenavon Library over the summer were displayed at the annual Blaenavon Horticultural Show on Saturday 1 September.
The scarecrows were made from recycled materials and the winning entry was created by Alex Gardner from Blaenavon who received a junior garden set for first prize. Full story
Dawnwyr Blaenafon on the move again!
At the beginning of September Dawnswyr Blaenafon travelled to Wallingford in Oxfordshire to dance at the Bunkfest, a huge event with dozens of different dance groups from all over England and Wales.
