Mothers Day Afternoon Tea & Craft Workshop at the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre Mother Day 15 March is fast approaching and if you haven’t booked anything yet why not come along to the Heritage Café where they will be serving a special afternoon tea. We will also be running a ‘Make and Take’ craft workshop where you can have a go at making something for that special someone. Easter Fun on the Railway
The volunteers at the Blaenavon Heritage Railway are working hard on improvements to the track and repairs to the rolling stock this month. All will be ready for the first event of the season over the Easter weekend. Once again the Easter Bunny will pay a visit and there will be eggs for all the children. The first train is at 11.00am and the last full trip leaves at 3.45pm. Further details click
Big Pit National Coal Museum Big Pit will be hosting a special event on Wednesday 25 March sees the return of our Museum Matinées with The Brave Don’t Cry (1952, Cert U) depicting the events of September 1950 at the Knockshinnoch Castle colliery in Scotland, where 129 men were trapped by a landslide. Heritage Day 2015
Blaenavon World Heritage Day is on Saturday 27th June.
Taking place in Blaenavon’s Heritage town, this year’s event will feature an abundance of great street entertainment, including a Heritage Costume Parade, Victorian Fun Fair, Live Music, Street Acts and Craft Stalls..... a great family day out! Blaenavon business among ‘most loved’ in the UK
A Blaenavon business has been named the most loved speciality retailer in the UK according to the on-line guide to local businesses TheBestOf.
Artie Craftie, which opened it doors in the town last June, took the top prize in the speciality category of the Local and Loved Awards 2015 which is run by the on-line guide.
It also took the title of most Local and Loved business in Torfaen, followed by Flowers by Stacey, Therapi Tylino, Coffi 1860 Ltd and Greenmeadow Golf and Country Club respectively.
