AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT (ARPA) FUNDING
Advocating for ARPA Funding - The National Council of Nonprofits, with the help of nonprofits across the country, has recently updated theirStrengthening State and Local Economies in Partnership with Nonprofitsreport to assist nonprofits in connecting with government officials to advocate for ARPA funding. The updated report includes more than three-dozen examples of government-nonprofit partnerships, many at the local level, as well as over 80 write-ups of successful examples of how governments are investing in charitable nonprofits. The report is meant to be as turnkey as possible so nonprofits have what they need to converse with government officials about the need for funding.Learn more and gain access to the full report.
Montana ARPA Funds - A small percentage of the $2 billion in COVID-19 relief funds allocated for Montana state officials to spend has gone out the door. However the Gianforte administration has reported more is in the pipeline. Visit Montana's ARPA website for more information.
MONTANA RED TAPE COMMENT FORM
On January 5, 2021, the Governor signed an executive order creating the Red Tape Relief Advisory Council to implement regulatory reform. The Council is soliciting feedback now through the end of October giving nonprofits the opportunity to weigh in on governmental rules and processes are helpful and/or detrimental to their work. According the latest report from the Center for Civil Society Studies at Johns Hopkins University, nonprofit employment fell by 2,500 jobs in September, registering a decline of nearly 560,000 nonprofit jobs since the onset of the pandemic. Increased employment in social assistance (12,000) and arts (6,600) were more than cancelled out by job losses in education (13,000) and healthcare (7,600). September’s jobs numbers reflect the sector’s first monthly decline since December 2020.
