QUARTERLY REPORT INFO

Thank you to the programs that completed the quarterly report. 59 programs reported 5428 active matches, with 570 matches closed and 680 matches made from July-September. We will be following up with programs on your training and technical assistance needs to connect you with no cost technical assistance.  Check the IMP Wiggio group and IMP Facebook page for match activities and match success stories that were shared.

MENTORING PROGRAM STAFF PEER SHARING

What background checks are other programs using? Have other programs had success with a particular fundraising effort?  Does anyone have good resources for working with families? Questions like these are frequently asked by programs. The wealth of knowledge, information, and resources in this network of mentoring professionals is a hugely underutilized resource. Take advantage of the IMP network with these opportunities:

Monthly Peer Sharing Calls: Led by the IMP provider board and other IMP program staff, these monthly calls are an opportunity for sharing around a particular topic. The Nov 12 call will be on National Mentoring Month activities.

Learn how to share questions and information on our IMP WIGGIO group. Watch the recorded IMP how-to video here. Questions? Contact Tatiana at Tatiana.Christian@iowa.gov or 515.725.3068

FINDING CHAMPIONS FOR YOUR PROGRAM

Now is a great time to invite your state legislators  to visit your program before they head back to the capitol for the legislative session in January.  Share local program information, both statistics and narratives, as well as national information that demonstrate the positive impact of youth mentoring on the community. Invite him or her to be a mentor with your program and a champion for mentoring in the community and at the state level.

STEM RESOURCES

October's IMP program call for STEM was led by Ellen Vanderloo from Waterloo Teammates who explained the origin and model of her STEM mentoring program.  This recording is an excellent resource for starting a STEM mentoring program.

The STEM Equity in Rural Iowa Symposium  highlighted the need for STEM opportunities in rural Iowa.  More info at  #IowaSTEMEquity
