Welcome to Access Ability's Summer 2014 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to Access Ability's Summer 2014 newsletter. We have various updates from the past few months as well as upcoming training dates, found at the bottom of this email.

Rebecca was employed full time for 7 years at Remploy, Wythenshawe. Rebecca had worked in the accounts department within an administration role. Following the closure of the factory she found herself made redundant and out of work. Rebecca joined the Access Ability programme based in Wythenshawe Job Centre every Monday, which provided a regular meeting point for her and 11 of her colleagues.

A week in which we help raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues.
To show our support we worked in partnership with CSF, Citizen’s Advice Bureau Hyndburn and West Lancashire CCG to provide mental health awareness sessions and relaxation activities.

Throughout the months of March and April, Access Ability along with its two trainers William and David provided several training workshops in health and safety in the workplace and manual handling awareness across all our job club locations.
This practical and theory based training allowed all participants to refresh their current knowledge, increase personal confidence to implement the safety regulations within a workplace setting as well as enhance their current CV profile for potential employers.

Members from our Burnley and Blackburn job clubs enjoyed a fun filled night of bowling with some ‘rookie’ bowlers winning!

It gives the opportunity for ex-colleagues to get together, share stories and have fun and laughter.

Disability Awareness Day 2014 - 13th July

Disability Awareness Day (DAD), is the world's largest 'not for profit' voluntary-led disability exhibition, and is held annually in a huge tented village within the grounds of Walton Hall Gardens. Visitors to the show will find over 250 exhibitors, equipment suppliers, transport, holidays, leisure, employment, support groups and services. PLUS a Sports Zone including Scuba diving, an Arts Marqee and family entertainment. The show opens at 10am and finishes at 5pm, and entry is FREE with a FREE programme.
