Medfield State Hospital Master Plan Committee Update

What is zoning? Why is this important to MSH?
In relation to the Medfield State Hospital, the land north of Hospital Road is currently zoned Business-Industrial (BI).
Simply put, the uses outlined in the mixed-use master plan vision are not allowed by right under BI zoning. The development community was clear that new zoning should be in place before they spend their own capital and resources into responding to any RFQ/RFPs.
The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) /Request of Proposals (RFP) is a standard municipal process that results in actual projects with actual costs with actual impacts being proposed, not conceptual like the master plan.
Another town meeting vote that outlines the rules of engagement for land management and disposition is required before a project could proceed.

Special Town Meeting to add to your calendar:
November 18, 2019 – Special Town Meeting at Medfield High School gymnasium starting at 7:00 PM at which time there will be opportunity for public comments and the formal vote will be taken which must be passed by 2/3rds of the Medfield residences in attendance to be approved.
