VOLUME 31, ISSUE 35, OCTOBER 2, 2022

Good morning. These last two weeks have simply been a joy! I have had the joy of assisting in the development of a class of about 20 chaplains at the Chaplains Captains Career Course at Fort Jackson. These Christian Chaplains who come from all over the country and will serve units who deploy all over the world. They come from places like the US Virgin Islands and New York from Alabama and Pennsylvania. One of their big "take-aways" from this week was the knowledge that they gained of how to better integrate their ministry into their units' operations process. So, they are learning how to be good staff officers and advisors to their commander as well as how to better apply their ministry to the culture of the Army. This is huge. As they learn how to better provide spiritual care to Soldiers they earn credibility, gain respect and influence. For many of these chaplains this week at the Chaplain's Captain's Career Course will ultimately result in greater influence for Christ and more opportunities to share the gospel.

Looking forward to being back.

Book of the Month | Studies in the Sermon on the Mount, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
For a while now, I've used this space to suggest a book to you; October's book is one that I have not read but hoping to get to soon. It comes with recommendations from other respected pastors. I suggest it now as we will soon be covering the Sermon on the Mount within our sermon series on Matthew. What else are you reading these days? Let me know!
