Message given at the Annual Meeting by in-coming President

Rebecca Thorndike (June 9, 2019)

I used a beach ball with different panels as a prop.  Elizabeth held the ball in the middle of the room.

“This Ball.. with the different panels, everyone sees something different, some see parts of panels, some see different designs in the panels, some see the ball from underneath, from a distance, or from nearby.

This ball represents us as a Fellowship, each of us in our differences and sameness make up the fellowship. So how do we get along?

We LEARN about each other

We TALK with each other, and Listen for commonalities that we have with each other

We ACCEPT each other for who they are now, not who we want them to be

We STRIVE to understand them and they us

We LOVE them in our differences

We need to carry in our hip pocket the following Principles:

Principle #1: the inherent worth and dignity of every person

And Principle #3: acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth

May it be so and …Let’s go have fun!

Community Quilt Project
First Meeting - Sunday, July 7th - after pot luck

Marge Abel and Carla Woodmansee are planning a community quilt project to be put together by members and friends of UUFF. Each block could reflect an aspect of our UU community and even the larger community. We will use our imaginations and incorporate all skill levels.

We would like to hold our first meeting on July 7th after the Potluck.  Please feel free to let Carla Woodmansee know your thoughts and questions before then. We are excited that this will be a fun project, allowing us to strengthen the bonds that already exist between us, to create new bonds and make new friends, and to build a stronger community. It will be “sew” much fun. We’re on “pins and needles.” Click on the link below to learn about a collaborative quilt project described in UU World.

Fellowship Contribution Campaign

We Build on Foundations We Did Not Lay

We build on foundations we did not lay

We warm ourselves by fires we did not light

We sit in the shade of trees we did not plant

We drink from wells we did not dig

We profit from persons we did not know

This is as it should be.

Together we are more than any
one person could be.

Together we can build across the generations.

Together we can renew our hope and faith
in the life that is yet to unfold.

Together we can heed the call to
a ministry of care and justice.

We are ever bound in community.

May it always be so.
