Unitarian Universalists share Seven Principles*:

Affirms and Promotes:
Reflections on the Second Principle
The Second Principle challenges us to go beyond our recognition of “the inherent worth and dignity of every person”.  It points us to the larger community. It gets at collective responsibility. It reminds us that treating people as human beings is not simply something we do one-on-one, but something that has systemic implications and can inform our entire cultural way of being.

We strive to support one another along our individual Spiritual Paths as we aspire to greater compassion and awareness. Compassion and awareness can be nurtured in each of us as individuals. However, we need each another to achieve equity and justice.”

Focusing on justice, equity, and compassion in our relationships with others with music and songs, as well as written and spoken words, is a strong tradition among UU’s.

This Sunday will be a personal joy to welcome back our old friend.

Songs of Justice, Equity and Compassion

 * Unitarian Universalism is a highly individualistic religion with no dogma concerning the spiritual nature of the world. As such, different UUs can have radically different ideas concerning the nature of the divine as well as ethical decisions.

As varied as the beliefs are, there are seven principles which members of the UU religious community agree upon. These are the foundations of th
e organization and which they promote.
They do not constitute a Catechism. We have no doctrinal manuals; questions followed by answers to be memorized. UU’s often prefer unanswered questions over unquestioned answers. Our shared Principles guide us along our individual sacred journeys and help us remain mindful of what is sacred to others.
Unitarian Universalist Congregations together affirm and promote Seven Principles as a Covenant of Community, which grew out of the ongoing dialogues within our communities and were affirmed democratically.
