Why Do We Sing in Church (or Synagogue or Chapel
or Fire Circle or Pub or Football Games....)?

Rev. Tom Tyre

Why Do We Sing in Church? Is it a spiritual practice?  If singing is a natural thing for a us to do, then why do we cringe when we hear our own voices? All babies sing before they can talk and as they grow older they keep singing until something rather sinister happens. As scientific research has revealed, when we're brave enough to be heard singing again, our physical health improves and our wellbeing and sense of belonging dramatically increases.

Alert from UUA Internet Technology Services: Religious groups and congregations are becoming easy targets for online scams often delivered via email. It's important for congregational leaders to educate staff and members about how to identify these scams and what the official channels are for emergency notifications, donation requests, and similar situations used in phishing scams. Community Quilt Project
First Meeting - Sunday, July 7th - after pot luck

Marge Abel and Carla Woodmansee are planning a community quilt project to be put together by members and friends of UUFF. Each block could reflect an aspect of our UU community and even the larger community. We will use our imaginations and incorporate all skill levels.

We would like to hold our first meeting on July 7th after the Potluck.  Please feel free to let Carla Woodmansee know your thoughts and questions before then. We are excited that this will be a fun project, allowing us to strengthen the bonds that already exist between us, to create new bonds and make new friends, and to build a stronger community. It will be “sew” much fun. We’re on “pins and needles.” Click on the link below to learn about a collaborative quilt project described in UU World.
