The calendar says it's almost summer, which means fog and gloom in Southern California. Our functional first day of summer usually happens in mid to late July.
Have you ever given much conscious thought to the actual seasonal wheel of where you live? So many people let others dictate their understanding of seasons, whether it's the calendar or the Celtic wheel or something else, rather than connecting and paying attention to nature. The Celtic/Wiccan wheel and the Gregorian calendar are both actually based on solar astrology, with some weird variations when the two are merged together. Seasonal changes are attached to the solstice and equinox, with the cross quarter observances (Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain) being the midpoints between; but the cross-quarters were then synced up with the Gregorian calendar, and are rarely celebrated when they should be. So it's all, essentially dogmatic, human construct. Take some time to think about when summer really starts where you live, when its apex is, and when you transition to fall. Connect with that, and you will struggle less.
Of Note: One of the uses of observing the cross quarter days in the transition from Equinox to Solstice (Beltane & Samhain) is to mark the apex of the thinning of the veil (helps to look at the actual astrological markers though). This summer, however, that goes out the window, because on June 13th, Neptune goes retrograde, which, in effect, thins the veil again. Ancestor and Fae energy, intuition, past life memories, and magick are all doing to be strong this summer. Forewarned is forearmed.
Know Anyone With a Studio on the West Side of Los Angeles?
I am looking for a venue (yoga or dance studio, community room, meditation space) in Malibu, Santa Monica, or Agoura, where I could offer a Sound Bath on Tuesdays at 1pm. If you know of a possibility, please let me know.
Upcoming Events & Opportunities
If you are in the Bay Area, I will be visiting in July, and am thinking about offering my Healing the Ancestral Lineage workshop, as well as a Sound Bath meditation. If you or anyone you know would be interested, please let me know as soon as possible. I may also be available for private healing sessions; those would need to be booked in advance.
I am also thinking about putting together a field trips go commune with wolves, fairly close to Los Angeles. I would need a tentative headcount in order to start planning in earnest, so let me know if you would be interested.
In July, I'll be offering two separate Tarot events, and, beginning in September, I will be teaching a certification-level class in using singing bowls for treating trauma. 2 new series of Experiential Kabbalah, levels 1 (intro) and 3 (pathworking), will begin in January.
May you be the Light of the World!
