Forward to Friend
Ah, summer. I know, I know, I said that last month... But it's still happening!

One of the blessings of living in Southern California is that we have glorious beaches. I am currently consulting up at the north end of Malibu on Thursdays, which coincides with some friends' Beach Days while their kids are on summer break, so the photograph on the left here has been my view during Thursday lunch. It's the highlight of my week.

Summer is a time of counting our blessings. The days are longer, we spend more time outside and socializing, and everything seems simultaneously slower and more full. It's a special kind of magic. The beginning of August marks the festival of Lughnassadh, traditionally the first grain harvest, but only if your tradition has you living in the British Isles. For much of the world, the beginning of August is still summer. In Southern California, mid August is the peak of our summer; we don't even really start summer until some time in July. Lughnassadh still has its purpose for us, but it's certainly not the first harvest of anything. Artichokes maybe?

Anyway, Lughnassadh, Samhain (Halloween), Imbolc (Groundhog's Day), and Beltane (May Day) are cross quarter festivals, meaning they are the midpoint in between solstice and equinox. On Samhain & Beltane, the veil between worlds is thinner. Lughnassadh and Imbolc hold the masculine and feminine energies of the cycle of the year, not in terms of male and female, but in terms of outward facing energy vs inward facing energy, or action vs receptivity. So this is the festival of activity, of displays of skill, of doing, of being outside. Think county fairs.

Interestingly, Spirit has shifted my focus from offering one-on-one readings to teaching classes, writing, and doing group healings. If you see that I'm available for readings somewhere, grab an appointment, because my "office hours" seem to be happening less than once a month right now. I can make time for private appointments if you really need a healing or reading, have no fear; and I'm still offering a discount on my Tree of Life readings online. If you're just hoping to walk in at The Crystal Matrix of Kenneally's Healing Light Resource Center and grab a reading, however, you're likely going to be sadly disappointed. If you're planning on attending the Globe Sound Healing Conference in Oakland at the end of September, I will have some limited slots for private healings available.

Speaking of scheduling, the next trimester of classes at Matrix International University begins in September. They are enforcing registration deadlines and class minimums more stringently these days, so if there's a class you're interested in taking, it's best to sign up for it sooner rather than later. I'll ne offering a new class in Sound Healing, and will once again be teaching Psychic Protection and my Becoming the Goddess Empowerment Workshop; the advanmced apprenticeship program, A Shaman's Work, will be looking at Storytelling as a healing modality and Journey Tools. In other venues, I will have a new Experiential Kabbalah series starting up this fall, and a project I have been working on behind the scenes may finally be launching in November -- I'll talk about it more as we get closer to the date.

All my currently scheduled upcoming events are listed below, and a collection of tips I've been handing out lately is down at the bottom.

May you be the Light of the World!

Animals come into our lives as teachers and are an integral part of our households. Learn to see what they have to teach you, what part they play in your family dynamic, and where they may be taking on or filtering your own pain and illness. We will also be talking about how diet affects your pet’s behavior, and we will look at common behavioral changes and warning signs. You may bring one of your pet’s toys or a photograph if you would like to be a part of the demonstration. For their own comfort, please do not bring your animal.

Singing Bowl Meditation
A Singing Bowl Meditation is a powerful way to bring your body to a state of calm using crystal singing bowls as the conduit. During the meditation, crystal and Tibetan singing bowls are played while we sit or lie in meditative bliss. The sound floods us with ethereal vibrations which deepen our meditation and connection with All. In addition to promoting overall relaxation, increasing resistance to stress, boosting energy levels, alleviating psychosomatic pain, lessening depression and improving digestion, this practice re-balances the autonomic nervous system, and brings the body, mind and spirit to a state of equilibrium

Psychic Protection
This practical, hands-on course is for the person wanting to lighten their load. You will learn a variety of ways to clear your aura and clear a space of unwanted "goobers" - things that go bump in the night... psychic vampires... unwanted attachments and disembodied entities. And the student will learn how to release these (and more) with love and total empowerment. During this course you will learn to make protection grids and learn how to use grids for clearing space and correcting stagnant feng shui. This course will help you leave your unwanted "friends" behind.
This class starts promptly and cannot be disturbed for latecomers once they are in session (and the storefront is closed on Mondays). Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes early in order to check in.

Tips I've offered people in passing this month:
  • If there's a place that seems to frequently have accidents in the exact same spot, toss three pennies at that location to shift the energy and close whatever vortex has been created.
  • If your printer is acting up, put a piece of chocolate (the fancier the better) on it as an offering to Athena, Goddess of Technology. Once your offering has been accepted and your printer starts functioning normally again, you get to eat the chocolate. It's a win-win!
  • If you're struggling with exhaustion, take two minutes to breath orange light in through your belly button, allowing it to fill your lower abdomen. Many people find this works better than coffee!
  • Don't fight with your mind when you're meditating. Let whatever wheels need to turn, turn. You'll have a better time of it, and you may even get some insights. Meditation is about relaxing and not struggling.
  • For a sore throat, gargle with unsweetened pineapple juice. It has natural antiseptic and light painkilling properties, plus it's full of enzymes and vitamin C, so it will probably kill whatever virus or bacteria is causing the pain while it's soothing your throat!
