Invitation for January Zoom events

Invitation to the next ULRHS Zoom events

You are invited to two January Zoom meetings:
  1. Marmalade Matters Wednesday 13 January
  2. Grow Your Own Happiness Wednesday 27 January

Marmalade Matters, Zoom meeting Wednesday
January 13th 7.15 to 8.30pm – please join online from 7.00pm

In our marmalade-themed Zoom evening, Pam Corbin leads us in a real extravaganza of marmalade celebration. We’ll kick off with the history of marmalade and Pam’s experiences as a judge at the World Marmalade Awards. Jean Stacey will treat us to some of her plant portraits of marmalade-themed plants and Pam will then run a Marmalade Question Time, answering any questions on any aspects of marmalade. Be in no doubt that Marmalade Matters!

It would be really helpful to have your questions in advance if possible. Please email your questions to tricia@thegardenersblacksmith.co.uk. You will also be able to ask questions on the night.

Please join the meeting at 7pm for a prompt 7.15pm start. Jo Benke-Smith, chair of the trips and talks group, will act as our master of ceremonies for the evening.

Grow your own happiness, Zoom meeting
Wednesday January 27th 7.15 to 8.30pm – please join online from 7.00pm

Alan Heeks will be running this Zoom workshop on ‘Grow your own happiness’. The workshop will show how gardening methods can be adapted to improve your wellbeing and resilience.

Resilience is the skill of facing challenges and growing through them.  A cultivated ecosystem such as a garden is a role model for natural resilience. This workshop shows how gardening methods can help you grow your own happiness.  For example:
  • Mulching and pruning to avoid getting rundown
  • Composting stress as a source of energy
  • Keeping your roots and fruits in balance, like a fruit tree
During the workshop you’ll have a chance to try out some of the techniques Alan describes. Just what we need to take us through dark days of winter and ongoing coronavirus restrictions. For more about Alan and his approach see www.naturalhappiness.net .

Please join the meeting at 7pm ready for a prompt 7.15pm start
