The end of this month is the deadline for business to file their W2s and 1099s. They should be mailed out to their employees and contractors by the end of the month. Also this year, all business must efile or paper file the W2's and 1099's before the end of the month. There is no longer an extension for efiling and a penalty will apply to late filings.
If you still need to file your 1099's or W2's for your employees and contractors then contact us and we can help you make this deadline.
If you are an employee or a contractor, expect your W2 or 1099 by the first week of February at the latest. If you do not receive it, you need to contact your employer and request a new one. You cannot file a tax return without your W2 until after February 15th. Its important that you make every effort to get a copy from your employer. If you are 1099, you do not need the form if you know the amount that is on the form or you typically report more income then your 1099 reports.
