Welcome HearRo!
We're thrilled to welcome HearRo as the newest member of Self-Sovereign Identity Incubator's Fall 2019 cohort!

This Los Angeles-based startup has a blockchain-powered phone system for trusted, effortless communication. HearRo works to improve a customer's call center experience through SSI.
With the addition of HearRo, SSI Incubator is proud to have five amazing startups be a part of the program, including Domi, MetaDigital, Spaceman ID, and Xertify. We look forward to seeing each of these teams on Monday in San Francisco, and it looks like they are a bit excited too! :)
SSI Incubator programming
We have a fantastic lineup of speakers for our kickoff week! Organizations like Blockstack, Hard Yaka, globaliD, Microsoft, Sovrin Foundation, and uPort will be stopping by to speak and have one-on-one sessions with our cohort.

We want to give a special shout out to Mariana Dahan, Founder and CEO of World Identity Network, who will be sharing her digital identity expertise with us during a fireside chat on the very first day of the 12-week SSI Incubator program.

Mariana and World Identity Network strive to use 'blockchain for humanity' to help fight human trafficking and modern slavery. To learn more about how SSI and digital identity fit into this mission, check out Mariana's TEDx Talk.

A call for mentors and sponsors
There are multiple opportunities to participate in the SSI Incubator including:
  • Volunteer as a business/technical mentor to guide a SSI-based startup through its early development stages. The 12-week incubator is designed to get the incubator participants ready to present for the SSI Demo Day—the culminating event where they will showcase their SSI solution to a room full of investors. The SSI Incubator is looking for mentors who will share their expertise with the world's most-promising emerging early-stage SSI companies.
  • Become an SSI Incubator sponsor. The SSI Incubator is hosting a number of digital identity events in San Francisco this Fall and Winter including a SSI Demo Day in December. By becoming a sponsor of the SSI Incubator, you will be recognized as an advocate for SSI adoption and innovation among industry leaders.

  • Telecommunication Use Cases for Blockchain Technology: "We recommend integrating a proven Decentralized Digital Identity Provider such as uPort, Sovrin, Blockstack, or Microsoft for to provision platform identity and, in order to reduce complexity, leverage the Decentralized Identity Foundation’s Identity Hub reference implementations for identity integration." —Enterprise Ethereum Alliance
Quote of the week
“Granting control of digital identity to centralized authorities of the online world suffers from the same problems caused by the state authorities of the physical world: users are locked in to a single authority who can deny their identity or even confirm a false identity. Centralization innately gives power to the centralized entities, not to the users.”
