Register Today for the RRRC Annual Meeting on September 27th
Registration is open for the 2017 RRRC Annual Meeting, set for Wednesday, September 27th at Rock Hill Farm in Culpeper.  The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. and features keynote address from John Martin, CEO and Managing Partner of SIR, on The Future is Now:  Autonomous Vehicles and their impact on transportation systems, consumers, planners, states, regions, local governments, and more.

Also included on the night's agenda are the presentation of the 2017 Distinguished Leadership Awards recognizing the contributions of citizen and government stewards of the region. This year's honorees will be:
  • Mr. Robert Bradford, Orange County resident and member of the Culpeper Soil & Water Conservation District Board since 1996
  • Mr. Brian Duncan, 25-year Executive Director of Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services

Registration is $20 prior to September 18th and $35 thereafter.

RRRC Tourism Committee Hosting FREE Customer Service Workshop
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Tourism Committee is hosting a FREE Customer Service Workshop featuring Bobbie Walker of Walker Consulting LLC on The Work We Must Do: A Lesson in Self-Awareness and Personal Interactions.  

The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3rd at the Culpeper Center in downtown Culpeper.

Two identical sessions will be offered, so please register at http://rrtourism.eventbrite.com for the time that best suits your schedule:
  • 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

RRRC & DCR to Host Floodplain Management Workshop October 11th
RRRC and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will host a one-day Floodplain Management Workshop on Wednesday, October 11th beginning at 9am.  The workshop will be held at the Culpeper Police Department Community Room at 740 Old Brandy Road in Culpeper (Map).  Lunch will be provided and the workshop is approved for 7 CECs for Certified Floodplain Managers, and is also eligible for VAZO and CEM recertification.

The workshop is open to all interested participants, but is specifically targeted to locally-designated floodplain administrators, zoning administrators, building officials, GIS managers, emergency management personnel, local planning and engineering staff, and planning commissioners.

Fall Transportation Meeting Scheduled for September 11th in Culpeper
The Commonwealth Transportation Board will be hosting an open house and town hall style transportation meeting on Monday, September 11th at the VDOT Culpeper District Auditorium, beginning at 4pm.  Transportation stakeholders and members of the public are invited to provide comments on transportation projects and priorities.

Information on various transportation programs overseen by VDOT, the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), and the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment (OIPI) will be available.  Among the topics impacting localities in the Rappahannock-Rapidan region are:
  • Proposed changes to the Smart Scale Prioritization process
  • Recently enacted changes to VDOT's Revenue Sharing program
  • Public Transportation funding administered by DRPT
  • State of Good Repair projects
  • Transportation Alternatives/Highway Safety Improvement Program funding
  • VDOT's Arterial Preservation Program
