Join us for an evening with Jack Mayer, award winning author of the book Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project, the true story of Holocaust hero Irena Sendler and her extraordinary efforts to rescue 2500 children from the Warsaw ghetto in the 1940’s. His story also describes the endeavor of three Kansas high school students to “rescue the rescuer” by discovering and telling her story both in the USA and abroad, empowering individuals as well as nations to move forward while simultaneously embracing their past.
Life in a Jar reveals the power of the one to make changes for the better, inspiring people everywhere, including here in Vermont, to realize that we can all be rescuers, that every small act of goodness repairs the world. Mayer’s book corresponds directly with the work of Everyone’s Child, a humanitarian non-profit organization based in the Mad River Valley dedicated to improving the lives of children in Kenya, particularly those whose lives are surrounded by invisible walls of poverty, poor health and lack of education.
Proceeds from the evening will go to Everyone's Child to help to fund the completion of two classrooms at the Lord Ranjuera Primary School in Kampi Ya Moto, Kenya.
