BioSB Course: RNA-Seq Data analyses (5th edition)

September 7-9, 2015, LUMC, Leiden
BioSB and partner LUMC are organizing a 3-day course on RNA-seq. This is an expert course for people with experience in NGS and a follow-up course on the general NGS data analysis course (coordinator Jeroen Laros, LUMC). The course will consist of seminars and hands-on command line, Galaxy and R practicals and will focus on data preprocessing, quality control, alignment, visualization and statistics for differential transcript expression. BioSB Course: Biological Network Analysis

September 17-18, 2015, VUmc Amsterdam
The focus of the Biological Network Analysis course is on integrative approaches in pathway and network analysis with a hands-on training on the visualization and analysis programs PathVisio and Cytoscape. Read more

NGS in DNA Diagnostics course

September 22-24, 2015, ErasmusMC, Rotterdam
VKGL/VKGN ‘NGS in DNA diagnostics’ is a course aimed at Genomic Resequencing in a Medical Diagnostic Context, i.e. to apply Next Generation Sequencing data as diagnostic tool in the hospital. Lectures will be accompanied with hands-on exploration. Read more

Next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis

September 28-30, 2015, UMC Groningen
This course aims at PhD students, postdocs, and senior researchers who are interested in, planning, or already working with next-generation sequencing. Currently available technologies as well as hardware and software solutions will be presented and discussed. The focus of the course will be on the data and ways to analyse these. Read more

BioSB Course: Matlab

October 20, 2015, Wageningen UR
This is a one-day introduction to the possibilities of Matlab as a programming environment for simulation and analysis of biological models. The main goal of this course is to get acquainted with Matlab software for use within Systems Biology. Read more

BioSB Course: Protein structures: production, prowess, power, promises, and problems

November 9-13, 2015, Raboudumc/CMBI, Nijmegen
In the right hands, protein structures are a ‘power’ful tool to answer bio-molecular questions. Knowledge of the structure is a pre-requisite for rational drug design, for biotechnology, for chemical biology, and for answering a whole series of biomedical questions. In this course we will discuss the ‘production’ of protein structures by NMR, X-ray, and homology modelling. The course is suitable for both PhD students working in structural bioinformatics as well as for PhD students in the life sciences who want to learn more about using structural information in their research. Read more

BioSB/Lorentz Workshop: Life Sciences with Industry 2015

November 16-20, 2015, Lorentz Center, Leiden
After the successes of the Life Sciences with Industry workshops 2013 and 2014, the 2015 edition will again be organised as a Lorentz Workshop. During the workshop about 40 young scientists in the life sciences and neighbouring disciplines will tackle five challenging industrial problems, formulated by companies that are active in the life sciences. More information will follow soon via the Lorentz Center website.

BioSB Course: Discovering Systems Biology Principles

November 23-27, 2015, Amsterdam
This course enables the student to discover biological principles that underlie biological networks. The course will first acquaint the student with the concepts of concentrations, rates, fluxes, steady state, production and transport. Read more

BioSB Course: Managing and Integrating Life Science Information

November 30 - December 4, 2015, Utrecht
This course is for bioinformaticians who would like to learn about leading-edge data and knowledge integration solutions. Following this course will show you new techniques for working with large, heterogeneous data sources and help you exploit existing information. Read more
