Season's Greetings

from the

European Parents' Association

Dear Friends,

As Europe is slowly switching into holiday speed, this is a good time to look back at the highlights and challenges of 2017, as well as look ahead and plan for the forthcoming year.

This year EPA published a very important policy paper on early childhood, a document bearing the widest support by EPA membership ever. We can only hope EU leaders will start listening to this loud voice and change their plans for the European Pillar of Social Rights to fulfil parents' needs, but more importantly to protect the best interest of children. We dedicated the year to career guidance and vocational education, and also held a highly successful conference during the European Vocational Skills Week on the subject. We have worked together with our members to support the inclusion of migrant parents and a number of other important topics.

Next year we are going to work on an extremely important and very wide topic, equitable access to education. We will examine the topic from many angles and will keep protecting the rights of the child, doing our job as guardians of our children's best interest. While it is evident that equal opportunities lead to more inequalities, policy and practice often disregard this. Save the date of our annual conferencee on the topic to be held in Milan on 27/29 April.

But now we all need to switch off, relax and enjoy some time with our beloved ones, while also trying to act and help those in need.

I'm taking this opportunity to wish all of you a wonderful holiday period and a happy, healthy, safe and European 2018 to all of us.

All the best to you and your family,

Eszter Salamon
President
