WBID Service Update
With winter behind us, and the weather getting nicer by the week, the WBID Clean-Up crews are working hard to make sure that the corridor stays clean. In the first 4 months of 2016, crews have removed over 57 bags of litter from the corridor. This equates to nearly 800 pounds of litter!
Social Media Contest #wbidatwork
Crews are out working in the corridor three times a week, and can be recognized by their blue vests that say "West Broadway Business District." We would like to start bringing positive attention to the corridor, and we need your help. If you see a crew member out working, please snap a picture of them (with their permission) and post to your favorite social media network with the hashtag #wbidatwork
. At the end of 2016, whichever business has tagged the most pictures with the #wbidatwork
hashtag will be given the opportunity to have a feature article written about their company in local media.
Spring Cleaning in the West Broadway Corridor
The West Broadway Corridor, will be getting some extra attention this spring. WBC staff released a request for proposals for an extensive clean-up of the corridor. This clean-up goes above and beyond the standard litter pickup, and will include sidewalk pressure washing, manual weed removal, and mechanical sidewalk sweeping. We wanted to go the extra mile in making the corridor look great, and this will help with the removal of grime, dust, and dirt leftover from the winter.
WBC Staff received three proposals and has contracted with Minneapolis based company Custom Products and Services to carry out the job. This is a one time cleaning event, and will commence in the next two weeks during the overnight hours when pedestrian and traffic activity is at a minimum.
Flowers, Benches, and More Coming to the Corridor!
As part of the ArtPlace America grant that the WBC received last year, we have contracted with local artists to fabricate new amenities that will be installed throughout the corridor this spring. If you would like to have a bench, flower planter, or any of the other amenities located near your property or business, please feel free to let me know before June 1st.
