The first incarnation of the artist book Bloom that is an element of the Lake Erie/Great Lakes Project installation. The majority of the book materials are sourced from the Lake. The images above (photos by Greta Frerichs) document my continual scouring the Lake Erie beach for wood and other flotsam/jetsam. The others depict parts of book construction process. The arist book consists of found (planed) wood, cord, fishing line, baloon ribbon (headband), handmade recycled hemp/cotton paper, Lake Erie algae (fixed and sealed with UV varnish), local beeswax. The images are from this late summer and early fall.
I will post more images of the finished first book (this will be a variable edition of 6) along with other installation elements in the next few weeks.

This weekend I harvested local milkweed for paper (thank you Paul Miller!) and am working on the other installation elements including the video material and large scale paperpulp paintings.

Cheers!
