Dear friends,

Welcome to St Mary’s Shalford e-news in changing times.  Through all the uncertainties and flux, the peaceful sanctuary of St Mary's church building reminds us of our firm foundations, held in the sanctuary of God's care. St Mary's church is now open again every day for you and all to dwell for as long as, and whenever, you like.

Please see above and below some important updates regarding worship together, live physically and virtually, on Wednesdays & Sundays (though not sadly in time for tomorrow 5th July as hoped); news of sanctuary in St Mary's wild churchyard; small group course opportunities in mental health, in the arts, in exploring faith; many opportunities to connect, participate, lead or be involved in anyway - your hopes, ideas, needs are always so valuable to hear and give space and prayer to in our church and community life together, please get in touch anytime.

As we pilgrim on together in faith, hope, love and joy, a psalm 28 poem here from Malcolm Guite to carry us through the week ahead, amidst all change & flux to turn to hear the music of Heaven, and let go into the sanctuary of grace.....

To dare each moment’s death, that I might live
Means both repentence and a plenitude
Of grace. Means letting go to let him give.

So Christ I beg for that beatitude
The grace to simply let go and receive
From your unsparing hand the amplitude

Of your beneficence, to have a heart
That dances to the measure of your music
Even here where evil seeks to part

Us from each promised good, and where the sick
And sickening cacophony of hate
Might deafen us or wound us to the quick

And break us down. May it not be too late
To turn to you again and start to live
Call us oh Christ, and open up the gate.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart danceth for joy, and in my song will I praise him. (psalm 28)

with love and prayers,
Rev'd Sarah

St Mary's Opens for Live Worship Together again
Wednesdays & Sundays - online and off!

With all the government and national church guidelines issued and updated throughout this last week, and despite much effort to do so, this Sunday has proved too soon to be ready to safely and inclusively open for worship together again in person in St Mary's church Shalford. There are still technology arrangements to update to enable those worshipping at home or on the move to be able to fully participate; volunteer cleaning and stewarding teams to put in place; and other arrangements to complete to be sure we can keep everybody cared for, included, and as safe as we possibly can. So this Sunday (5th July), please find below a hymn from Liz and the opportunity to simply reflect on Bishop Andrew's sermon as we seek to unburden all that weighs us down.

Wednesday is the new Sunday this week!   Wednesday 8th at 12 noon St Mary's church doors will be open again for worship together for any who are able to come in person, as well as those able to join online via Youtube Live.  Do join for our simple, reflective, Holy Communion together as we receive, give thanks, and find hope in God's provision.

Bishop Andrew's Sermon for today - ‘Come to Me’

Broken for Me, Broken for You
Today's Hymn led by Liz, Director of Music, St Mary's Church Shalford.
