This Sunday (tomorrow).....
I know you'll all be as delighted as I am to warmly welcome Bishop Jo at her parish church of St Mary's Shalford tomorrow, to preside and preach at St Mary's 9.30am Service of Holy Communion. Do join in person in church, or at home on zoom via the simple click from our website (our intercessions and a reading will be led by those attending on zoom too). If you feel awkward looking at yourself on zoom, don't forget you can turn your picture/camera off if that helps (though others on zoom will love to see you!). Thanks again to Steph for creating our online opportunities to join safely together in worship wherever we are.
Calling all young people and families and young at heart......
Next Sunday, with a special focus on launching us on our Eco Church path, as well as the usual St Mary's 9.30am eucharist service, we will have our circa monthly 10.30am worship for young people (in age or heart) outside in St Mary's churchyard. Next Sunday's will be more about coming together to help with the preparation and sowing of special wild flower seeds, gathering final hay stacks, sharing wild planet saving thoughts and coffee! Just turn up at 10.30am wrapped up warm, with your own coffee and all your friends!
New Opportunities for all........to come together again in fellowship, friendship, faith, footsteps, feasting!.....
Now the summer sun seems to have turned cooler and we are needing to keep warmer inside behind our closed doors more again, this seems a particularly important season to find opportunities to meet safely in fellowship and friendship in our church-without-walls-inclusive-of-all family again. It's tough, and still rather isolating for many of us, trying to communicate with each other through our essential facemasks, not having opportunities to meet easily with others at work or home or church eg after worship over coffee in person, and having to find opportunities online (if we have access at all) to connect more closely again with others. And I know many of you are feeling the great need now for greater connection again, closer belonging, new ways to safely share lives and laughter and laments with friends and church family. So.....hopefully through this autumn we can find fresh, creative, safe ways together both in person and more closely via zoom and the like as well. Let me know any ideas and longings you have (and anybody you think would like a home/doorstep visit), and hopefully a few beginnings are included for you below in this e-newsletter including:

Macmillan Coffee morning - with FOS, Saturday 26th Sept

St Mary's Small Fellowship Groups begin again...
A chance to come together for 6 or 7 weeks (or as many as you can make), in a group of no more than 8 (we can have more than one group!), to ponder the weekly short course video, chat together (or just listen if you prefer) about questions raised and faith in everyday life, and join in fellowship together. If we are able we will run as hybrid course - ie the chance for a few to gather safely in church joining others via zoom at home. All welcome, whether seeking to explore faith for the first time, or many years along your journey. Starting end of September, but a chance now to choose which course we follow together, and which time/day suits most people.
Our autumn small fellowship groups will follow either The Bible Course, or The Pilgrim Course on The Eucharist (we can follow the other in new year). Mondays at 5pm or Wednesdays at 5pm or 7.30pm. Please let Rev Sarah know before 16th Sept (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) which course and which sessions you'd like to join. See below for more details of each course.
The Bible Course
Whether you are new to the Bible or want to go deeper, The Bible Course (from The Bible Society) will enhance and inform your Bible study:
will show you how key events, books and characters fit together as one big story.
The video, course guide and daily readings will help you grow in confidence as you read the Bible for yourself, and discover how the Bible applies to your life. https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/explore-the-bible/the-bible-course/
The Pilgrim Course
- The Eucharist -
Pilgrim 6: The Eucharist (from the Church of England) explores in greater depth how Christians know and worship God. Its six sessions reveal the reasons why The Eucharist is celebrated as a memorial of Christ’s saving passion and stands at the very heart of Christian worship. http://www.pilgrimcourse.org/books/the-eucharist-(book-6)
Brew & Boots? Coffee & Cagoule?
