Hi <<First Name>>,
A September birth flower, the Morning Glory, serves to remind us that fall and cooler weather is around the corner. Because morning glory petals open in the morning, they are considered a sign to stop and soak up the sun with its healing energies.
Another sign that fall is on its way is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which signifies the beginning of the Days of Awe, a period of introspection. ("Shanah Tovah!" to those of you who celebrate the Jewish New Year)
Even though it’s not officially autumn here in Northern California, it feels
like fall has arrived. School’s back in session; the summer is coming to an end. To me, it seems as if we’re starting a new year. It’s easy to stay with old routines and the normalcy of everyday life.
But with the lingering pandemic and constant unrest in the world, the “old routine” clearly isn’t working.
We can let in a new perspective if we think of this time as the start of a new year and invite something new into our routines. We can consciously choose what to allow into our reality and prioritize what’s essential in our lives. We can change what we can, release what we can’t, and embrace the precious moments we have with each other.
Time away from work has slowed my pace, and I don’t feel ready to jump back into my old routines. I’m taking this week to let the end of summer sink in, so there isn't a 5Rhythms class tonight.
We will have a Sweat Your Prayers class on Wednesday, September 22, on the Autumn Equinox. (Next Wednesday, September 15th, is Yom Kippur, so I will not start classes on this holy day)
During these two weeks, I will send out a Spotify playlist to enjoy and dance to on your own time or with friends.
Blue Morning Glory
by Anne Pitkin
the morning glory has been blossoming for so long
without permission that in some gardens, it is no longer censored.
What does that tell you? See how it opens its tender throats
to a world that can sting it, how, without apology for its excess,
it blooms and blooms, though even yet
it seems surprised.

PS. As a reminder to the monthly members,
we have quite a few video and audio recordings on the website for you to dance whenever you feel like it. You should have emails with instructions on how to log in to SyzygyDanceProject.org
to access the recordings. You can also invite your friends to join you.
