Bivalent mRNA Vaccine: Available Now!

TBDHU is reminding all vaccine users of the transition to a bivalent mRNA vaccine for all booster doses this fall. This next-generation bivalent vaccine targets both the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 and the Omicron variant of concern (BA.1) providing additional protection compared to the monovalent Pfizer and Moderna products.

Health Canada has announced approval of Moderna’s bivalent COVID-19 vaccine for adults 18 and older and supply is currently available.

Please see COVID-19 Vaccine Guidance document page 16 ‘Booster Dose Recommendations’ for additional information. It is recommended all vaccine providers begin immediately offering bivalent Moderna as a booster dose to eligible individuals, regardless of the number of booster doses previously received.

The vaccine order form and clinic metric form have been updated; please visit the TBDHU webpage for information on ordering and reporting COVID-19 vaccines.
