Hope October went well!

It has been over a month since we hosted our webinar on op-ed writing.  Did you get a chance to read and write op-eds and essays since then?

Timeliness is important.

As CMCS board member Josh Nathan mentioned, you can always write and share your writing with us. We would be happy to take a look and post for wider readership. CMCS board member Jackie Raphael has been writing excellent essays and reviews on A-list Hollywood films https://alistreviews.blogspot.ca/ - you can read them anytime. Once again, our recorded video, PowerPoint presentation, writing tips, articles, and sample pitch letter below ‘Register Now’ on this page: http://cmc-centre.com/conferences/nyc2017/

We are proud of CMCS member & LSE PhD candidate Winnie M Li who recently won The Guardian’s ‘Not the Booker Prize’ for her debut novel Dark Chapter. Winnie has been widely covered on The Guardian and BBC among many more. Please join me in congratulating Winnie and follow @winniemli for her writing, research, and media updates.

If you would like to present your research as a part of an interview or video essay, you are most welcome to join us on Celebrity Chat! Check out Season 3 Episode 4 in which CMCS member & Marrie Bennet talks about Freddie Mercury of the legendary rock band Queen: youtu.be/ZNjQ77q18jg

Recently, CMCS keynote speaker David P. Marshall offered a special talk titled “The New Word of Mouth Culture: Pandemic Fame / Persona / Rumour / Reputation and the Production of Information Instability” at the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver, Canada. Here is the Prezi link to his talk: prezi.com/ths87uiywhgr

Stay tuned for more updates and have a great start to the weekend!

Please note that the deadline for the upcoming Celebrity Studies journal conference in Rome is November 8. Latest Call for Papers and CMCS media panelist Jennifer Polk’s new course enrollment information are below.

Sincerely,
