I am pleased to update that guest registration for the 8th Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies (CMCS) conference is now open: Join key speaker Jacque L. Foltyn for an exclusive in-person discussion on media and academic relations at our 8th conference in New York City – not to be missed! Also, Hannah Yelin will share her rare experience on media collaborations (over live video). Earlier, her opinion piece with Michele Paule was published in The Independent. You can read her views here.

In other news, WaterHill Publishing released Popular Culture & the Intellectual: Media Trends and Social Change (2019). Based on the CMCS conferences at USC in Los Angeles and CUNY in New York City, the book explores key questions about the role of intellectuals in popular culture and the ways in which cultural producers contribute to intellectual progress. We are proud of all authors and thank conference chairs and editors William Huddy and Andrea Marshall for the unique collection. Read and share your reviews. Order details and sample chapter are here:

Also, celebrity studies scholar and CMCS media expert Nandana Bose published Madhuri Dixit which is a unique contribution to celebrity studies in Bollywood. Her new monograph is a part of the British Film Institute’s Film Stars Series, edited by Martin Shinger and Susan Smith. The book can be ordered here Earlier, her research was published by the Celebrity Studies journal.

Finally, US-based Brown Girl Magazine published my opinion piece on #MeToo The last part of my Feminism in India op-ed sheds further light on the issue
