June 2016 Newsletter!

Greetings MaSHers!

Meeting next week on Wednesday June 15th from 7-9 at J&M!  It's the quarterly style competition, witbier.  In addition to this is the club label competition. Bring your labels!  They will be displayed at the county fair - even the avery 5160s that say BEER.  Speaking of which, guess what still isn't over - the county fair.  Fortunately what we have left is just the setup of the homebrew section.  There will be shelves with brews, potentially a table with equipment, essentially anything that we want to put in this little corner.  Volunteers / Ideas are encouraged.  Fair setup is June 25-26th.
Important details:

  • Quarterly style competition - Belgian Wit. Please drop off 2 12oz bottles at J&M by 5PM on Sat June 11.  If you can't make that drop-off please let me know and we can work something out.  I'd rather you emailed me than not submit your entry.  Don't forget to bring a sample to the meeting.  If you did anything unique or different please label as such.  For example you did a cilantro lime wit.  We will definitely need to know that when judging.  Also, please provide some carnitas or chicken tacos to go with that one.
  • The Northern California Homebrew festival is in September but sign-up is in July.  The club can sponsor a tent if there is enough club interest.  More details at Northern California Homebrewers Festival.  Please let me or Jim know if you're interested.
  • July meeting will likely be offsite, potentially at Iron Springs.  If anyone else has another suggestion that works too.  There will be a new quarterly style that day too.  The club has historically done a summer family BBQ at Marinwood Park and could do it again this year if so desired.  The park has a convenient field, bbq areas and a nice play area.  The last couple times we rented a spot but that isn't a must do.
  • Label Competition - Bring your labels to the meeting for an internal club competition.  Most / All labels will likely be displayed at the fair.  I don't think they have restrictions assuming it's not horribly offensive.  Either way, bring it to share!

See you in Wednesday!
