Introducing New Volunteer Policies

   We love our volunteers!  Without great volunteers, our runners would not have the great experience that they have come to expect at all of our races. Our volunteer satisfaction scores have been fantastic at every race, and we are excited for you to help us continue that trend! 
   As a thank you for volunteering, all volunteers will now be able to earn “Race Bucks.” One “Race Buck” equals $1, but “Race Bucks” can only be used for Race 13.1 products. A list of volunteer jobs and their earning potential is listed below.
Volunteer Jobs and Race Buck Earning Potential:

Packet Pick-up: $10 Race      
  Bucks per hour

Finish Area Assistance
  (including KidZone and Results):
  $10 Race Bucks per hour

Clean up (post-race):  $15 Race
  Bucks per hour

Course Monitor: $20 Race
  Bucks per hour

Fall 2015 Races Now Open 
Race 13.1 is excited to announce that FIVE new fall races are open for registration:
We're working hard on opening races in another FIVE races in Winston-Salem, NC, Charlotte, NC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Durham, NC, and Asheville, NC. Stay tuned to for more details as we'll be opening these additional races soon! Don't forget, you can race all 2015 races for just $199 when you purchase the 2015 Season Pass!

Tip of the Month                                   

We're halfway through January, but it's not too late to set some attainable goals for 2015! In this blog post, Paula Smith breaks down eight simple steps to setting - and achieving! - your goals this year! We'll give you the first few steps here, and then be sure to check out the Race 13.1 blog for the rest of the post!
  1. Write down your goals. Make sure they are realistic and doable in the right timeframe.
  2. Go public with it! Register and sign up for a race. Invite your friends and family to join you! This will ensure that you have the support you need to achieve your goals. Plus, they will keep you accountable and make it more fun!
  3. Commit to it! Make or get a plan to follow and schedule it on your weekly calendar. Taking small steps every day will not only help hold your interest in what you’re trying to achieve but will also ensure that you move slowly, but surely, toward your goal.
  4. Put in the training and hard work. No excuses! I promise it will be worth it! Just do it! There will be days when you don’t feel like it, but remember every little bit counts, and it’s these tough days that will make you mentally stronger! Also, keep in mind that you always feel better at the end of the workout, and you will be glad you did it! The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen.
