2016 Spring Schedule:
  • Race 13.1 Detroit on July 2 is now open for registration with early bird pricing of just $50 for the half marathon available through Monday, January 25!
  • The spring slate also features three more exciting inaugural races in Memphis (April 9), St. Louis (May 22) and Cincinnati (June 4)! Click here to view the full schedule!
  • BCBSNC Race 13.1 Wilmington will kickoff our spring season in just over a month on February 21! The race will feature a flat and fast course close to the beach with average temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s - what a great way to kick off your 2016 race season!

BGR! National Spring Meet-up: We're excited to host the inaugural national spring meet-up race for Black Girls Run! at our BCBSNC Race 13.1 Greensboro event on May 15! Click here for details on registration and the bonus swag BGR runners receive!

Fall 2016 Schedule: We'll have some additional fall races open for registration in the coming weeks! Stay tuned for races that will re-open for registration and some brand new locations as well!

Tip of the Month: How to Find Time for Running
You may have set some great New Years resolutions to run more or just exercise more in general, but how do you find the time to actually do just that? This month's tip comes from and features some ideas to make sure lack of time isn't the reason you're not reaching your goals this year!

One of the primary excuses for lack of exercise is time. Did you already claim that you are too busy or that you lack time for running? If so, there is good news for you: actually, running creates time! Let’s see how this magical trick is possible.
  1. Set Clear Priorities and Embrace a Powerful Life Flow
    If you put running or exercise as a low priority in your lifestyle, there are many chances you’ll not exercise a lot at the end of the day because you’ll deplete your willpower and levels of energy with all the other activities you consider more important.

    If running is optional, it will actually only be a minor part of your life. But when you realize that running determines your health and wellbeing, you can’t be satisfied by putting it into this category.

  2. Running Creates Time
    When you put running as a high priority in your life, you literally create time. Thus, saying you lack time for running is pretty ironic because the simple fact of adopting the exercise routine will create the time you need to practice it and much more.

    High achievers don’t say they lack time, at the contrary they constantly crave other activities and projects to nurture their inextinguishable thirst for doing more, for progressing towards a better self.
