Venue & Registration Desk

PyOhio is held at the Ohio Union building on the 3rd floor. Directions here!

The building opens at 8:00am Saturday and 10:00am Sunday. The registration desk will open shortly after the building opens.

If you registered online your badge will already be printed and you'll just need to give your name.

Note: Badges are organized by last name. If you put something other than your real last name in the "badge last name" field when registering please mention it at the desk so we can find your badge.

Volunteers Needed!

In order to have a successful event we need dozens of volunteers. Please consider volunteering on-site. No experience needed!

We still need to fill many roles. We especially need videography volunteers (bonus if you can attend a brief training Friday morning!) If you'd like to volunteer for this role but can't attend the Friday training note it in the sign up form and we'll try to find another training time.

Friday FuPy (MicroPython on FPGAs) Hackfest

Carl Karston of Next Day Video, our video recording service, is going to be hosting a FuPy (MicroPython on FPGAs) Hackfest from 10am to 8pm on Friday, Jul 26 in Columbus. All PyOhio attendees are welcome! From Carl:

"The hackfest will be focused on introducing people to porting and running MicroPython to a variety of micro controllers, including soft cores running on low end FPGAs that run an Open Source tool chain.

This will be suitable for users, developers and anyone curious. We will have hardware available to play with for anyone who shows up with a laptop and a Github account."

Details, Directions, Parking Info & RSVP

All 48 talks are open to registered attendees and do not require individual registration. Please note that space is limited and some talks will be at capacity (especially in the smaller rooms) so please try be seated a few minutes before each talk start time.

  • All tutorials require pre-registration.
  • All tutorials are full with wait lists. You can still add yourself to the waitlist via the conference registration site.
  • Space is very limited and we ask that you register for no more than one tutorial.
  • Please arrive at the room at least 10 minutes before the tutorial start time. Anyone not seated by 5 minutes before the start time will lose their spot.
  • Any spots that are open at 5 minutes before the start time will be offered to people present outside the room door in the order they are on the waitlist.
  • Some tutorials have prerequisites or installation instructions. Please see the tutorial listing for details.
  • If register and find you will not be able to attend, please cancel your registration or email so someone on the waiting list can take the spot.

Lightning Talks

Lighting Talks will be held at the end of the day on Saturday and Sunday. Lightning talks are quick (hard 5 minute limit!) talks on any topic you think may be of interest to attendees. Anyone may sign up to give a lightning talk. The sign-up sheet will be in the hallway near registration after the opening keynote. So start thinking about what you want to share!

Open Spaces

Open Spaces are self-organizing meetup-like events which happen in the same time slots as the conference talks. Reserve space for a discussion by writing a topic and your name in a time block and then meet with anyone interested. The sign up sheet will be outside the Open Spaces room after the opening keynote on Saturday.
