Blessing of the Animals THIS SUNDAY

Join us THIS SUNDAY,  August 28 at 10 a.m. on the Palisado Green for our annual Blessing of the Animals service! We look forward to welcoming leashed pets (like dogs and cats), caged pets (like hamsters and rabbits), pictures of pets who can't travel and stuffed animals. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. We will provide water and treats for our furry friends. Be sure to invite your friends and neighbors!

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner!
Our new Pastoral Associate, Paige Holden, has now arrived in Windsor! To help Paige get to know our First Church family, we invite members to gather with their friends and neighbors and have her over to dinner! If you would like to host Paige, you can click here to sign up. Paige has no dietary restrictions or allergies!
Paige can be contacted by email at!
Spirituality Book Group
Tom Carr
If you are interested in gathering with others who are seeking to deepen their spiritual lives by reading and discussing a variety of books, you are invited to join us for an initial meeting on Sunday morning, September 11, at 8 a.m. The Reverend Tom Carr will facilitate the conversations based on those sections of the book to be read before each session.

The first book we will read and discuss is Ladder to the Light: An Indigenous Elder’s Meditations on Hope and Courage, written in 2021by by the Reverend Steven Charleston. Charleston is a retired Episcopal priest, former Bishop of Alaska, professor at several seminaries, a member of the Choctaw Nation, and a Choctaw Elder. Based on his daily meditations, spiritual reflections, and conversations with the Spirit, the metaphor Charleston uses to shape his work is a Kiva, a sacred space among Native Americans in the Southwest, a space that helps one move from the darkness into the light. Each chapter is a “rung in the ladder” as one moves towards spiritual resilience by ascending the ladder to the light. At the first gathering, we will discuss the Introduction and Chapter One: The Rung of Faith.

We plan to meet from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and at the first gathering, along with discussing the content of the first parts of the book, we will consider how often we will meet and other details. If you have any questions, please email Tom Carr.
Summer Water

Each summer (except 2020!) we ask everyone to collect water from a special place or occasion and bring it back to the church. In September, we’ll pool all that water and bless it. Then, we purify it and use it for baptisms throughout the year. Little bottles are available after worship, or use one of your own! If you would like to be included in our Summer Water Communion slideshow, snap a photo of where you gathered the water from and email it along with your name and the location name to Deb Dupont.
