Turtle Awareness Programmes a hit

In the past month, we have conducted four 3-hour Turtle Awareness Programmes, affectionately known as "Turtle Camps," with Year 5 students from four local primary schools in Kemaman, i.e. S.K. Mak Lagam, S.K. Teluk Kalong, S.K. Bukit Kuang and S.K. Sultan Ismail.

The Turtle Camps began with a briefing on sea turtles, terrapins and tortoises; factors that cause their decline and efforts to help save them. After that, students were divided into smaller groups for different activities, such as coloring, making turtle origami and playing a Terrapin Action Game that enhances their knowledge on turtles.

It costs us approximately RM350 to conduct a Turtle Camp for 50 students. That includes giving each student a
Turtle Information and Activity Book, a button badge, materials for making turtle origami, and some light refreshments. Please consider making a donation to support our Educational Programmes.

Please contact us if you would like to invite us to conduct a Turtle Camp at your school. Photos taken during the Turtle Camps can be found here, here and here.
One final Turtle Discovery Trip for the year

In the past three months since our signature Turtle Discovery Trip was introduced in May, we have entertained 10 different groups of participants -- young and old, Malaysians and expats, families and groups of students.

Our final Turtle Discovery Trip this year will be conducted this Saturday, 22nd August 2015. Sign up now if you don't want to miss this highly educational and first-in-your-lifetime experience :) If you can't make it this Saturday, see you, perhaps, in May 2016!
Volunteers needed: KL Converge! 2015

KL Converge! 2015 is an annual conference and exhibition organized to demonstrate how converged communications advance the digital lifestyles for all Malaysians. KL Converge! 2015 will take place from 27th to 29th of August at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and will showcase, among others, Internet of Things related topics, apps, workshops, etc.

TCS under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Pavilion has a booth showcasing our awareness, conservation and river terrapin tracking projects, and we are looking for a few volunteers to help man our booth.

If you're interested and could spare a few hours assisting and promoting TCS, we'd greatly appreciate it! Email us to get in touch!
Join our "Terrapin Independence Day" this September!

It's that time of the year again, when we release all our head-started river terrapin hatchlings into the Kemaman River! We cordially invite all our members, donors and supporters to join us. This year, our "Terrapin Independence Day" will be celebrated as follows:

Date: 5th September 2015 (Saturday)
Time: 3:00 am to 6:00 pm
Venue: Kg. Pasir Gajah, Kemaman (map here)
GPS: 4.237841, 103.289907

We'd also strongly appeal to you to support us by adopting a terrapin hatchling (or more!) for release. It costs only RM30 to adopt a terrapin, and children will receive a personalized Certificate of Adoption. What's more exciting is that on the day of the event, you will get to release your adopted terrapin(s) into the river!

Your donation will be channeled to our future river terrapin conservation and research projects. Send us an email if you have questions regarding our Terrapin Adoption Programme and Terrapin Independence Day!
