Fraud Prevention:
___
To keep your parts store running smoothly, fraud prevention is essential.
Fraud prevention increases customer confidence in your store, and being wary of fraud and taking precautions against it also saves you time in the long run, limiting the amount of time spent making up for lost revenue due to fraudulent orders. In general, there are a lot of things you can do to fight fraud using SimplePart’s platform.
- Look for order warnings and other typical indicators in the Control Panel, such as failed AVS checks, failed payment attempts, mismatched or invalid addresses, unusual email addresses and previous fraud.
- Be wary of large, expensive orders and multiple orders from the same customer with different billing or payment information.
- Attempt to follow up with the customer if you are unsure. Try calling or emailing to verify the order.
- When in doubt, don't process the order. For in-store pickups, make sure to check IDs when people come in to pick up their order.
Remember: You are not obligated to fulfill every order. If a customer has been associated with fraudulent orders in the past and you are worried about it possibly being a fraudulent order, don't move forward.
While not all orders with order warnings are fraudulent, it is important to take precautions when processing such orders. If you are able to identify a fraudulent order, mark the order as fraud in case the same customer attempts to make additional orders.
