Senior Living Projects...

Many of CFS Engineers’ development clients have embraced the senior housing and care industry, investing in the development of all types of senior living development.

Did you know?
  • Demand for senior living development (nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and retirement communities) is expected to balloon in the next two decades as baby boomers retire and the incidence of progressive illnesses increases.
  • The number of Americans over the age of 65 is expected to double to 71 million by 2030.
  • Significant changes in medicine and technology have changed how we view healthy aging and how we desire to live out our senior years.
Over the past few years, CFS Engineers has worked with various clients to develop over 20 senior living and health care developments throughout Kansas and Missouri, including independent living communities, assisted care facilities, and full care facilities.  These projects have ranged from luxurious developments with high-end features and amenities to simple, affordable housing communities.

CFS Engineers has provided full service planning, civil engineering and construction phase services for these projects, including geotechnical investigation and reporting, surveying, platting, site planning, utility design and coordination, roadway design, public improvements design, structural design,  construction inspection and special testing.

While some of the elements of these projects are similar to any other development project, it is important that the design components are addressed in an innovative way to promote independence and well being.  We work to provide solutions that support the end user, especially as it relates to accessibility, layout, contact, privacy and technology.

Do You Know?

Dylan Stang

Senior Inspection Technician | Lawrence, Kansas

Dylan grew up in Ellsworth, Kansas. After two semesters in radio broadcasting and band classes, he moved on to do a year of highway layout followed by a course in auto collision, which led him to Lawrence. After a year in auto collision he began surveying for another Lawrence engineering company for ten years.

During that time, among the topos and layouts, he was part of the survey crew on the Kansas River where he earned the title of Hovercraft Captain! During the many adventures this job led him on, the most notable being broke down on a sandbar and stranded miles from civilization, he met his wife Kristel in a small pizza place in DeSoto that her dad owned.

Kristel and Dylan married at Union Station in Kansas City in June 2009. At the end of 2009, he enrolled at JCCC for civil engineering technology (AutoCAD) and during the same week he completed the program, the couple welcomed their first son, Asher, into the world.

Following the birth of their son, and some persuasion from his wife, Dylan enrolled at the almighty University of Kansas. He took an internship at CFS the summer before he was to graduate. In March 2015, the couple welcomed their second child, Avery, and two months later Dylan finished his degree in Civil Engineering.  Upon graduation, he accepted a full time position at CFS in the Lawrence office, where he manages testing and inspection for private projects.
