Thank You So Much
If you haven't heard yet, we won. Thank you to everyone who helped us. I hope that you view our success as a win that we all will share because by helping people to serve in important community positions, we all win by improving our community.
It has been a very long 16 months since I announced that I would run for circuit judge. I didn't realize at that time the amount of work it would take to campaign in two counties and inform the public about why I was the best choice for judge. Our campaign wasn't just about signs, mailers and ads, it was about reaching out into the community and meeting people in their homes, businesses, places of worship and of course community hob nobs. I enjoyed making so many new friends and learning about different businesses, charities and restaurants. I can tell you that we have many community leaders and concerned voters who are very involved in their communities and making a difference.
As I read through the hundreds of emails and texts, and listen to the voice mails, I am reminded about how fortunate I am to have had so many community members involved with my campaign. Running for public office is not something one can do alone. Without your help through campaign contributions or by volunteering your time, we never would have achieved this kind of victory.
Thank you to my wife, Rona and to my kids for their patience and understanding while I was not at home but on the road campaigning. Your love and support helped me to achieve this goal. Thank you to Roy J. Smith, IV, my little bro, who agreed to be my campaign chair. Thank you to my treasurer, Pam Ohab, CPA, who helped us with the finances. Finally, I am thankful for the leadership and guidance of Marni Stahlman and Kathy Pierson who will forever be known as the “dream team” who helped me every step of the way.
I will begin my judicial term in January 2015 in Osceola County. I am very excited to start this new chapter and I look forward to working with one of the best group of judges in the state. Please stay in touch and if you are in Kissimmee allow me to introduce you to Fat Boys BBQ!
