Four intrepid Harboursiders (Susan, Marisa, Berken and Ellen) hit the Nordic trails at Mt. Washington for a couple of days. “Isn’t it beautiful”, “ahhh, this feels so good” were common refrains. The meals prepared in turn by each were possibly even better than the skiing. A hearty thank you to our hosts.  (Marisa)
As I sat down to breakfast this morning my calendar reminded me that it was 2 years since most of us moved into Harbourside.
So I wrote a few lines for the occasion.

Two years now we’ve shared our space
And got to know each friendly face
As tasks we do with time to play
Opportunities come to us each day
of planting, cooking, meetings and more
What will tomorrow have in store?
A BBQ on the beach is fun
when helping hands get all work done
and when we want a quiet place
our comfy units provide the space
And ageing members are soon to see
A full balanced life was meant to be

Happy Anniversary Harboursiders!  (Jean)
Saving for a Rainy Day

Legal-Finance Team outdid themselves, effectively captivating council with an informative and entertaining enactment of how the Depreciation Report could affect future management of the Major Replacement Fund. Full screen credits to the writers, producers and directors of the presentation, and small credit also to the players who waited in the metaphorical rain to "get on the bus”.  (Marisa)

Dateline Victoria:
If you look closely around Victoria, you can already see signs of Spring -- like this small patch of snowdrops under a bush.
There are a surprising number of elaborate and interesting graffiti murals around town on walls designated cleverly by the city as 'free walls'.

Victoria was the first city in N.A. to have China's U-bikes and there are 150 of them ready for use all over the city. The key to using them is a barcode stamped on the locking mechanism fastened to the rear tire. They cost $1 for 30 minutes and are activated using a mobile app to scan the barcode.

This charming 'tree sweater' can be found in Robert J. Porter park on Fairfield Rd. There are many instances of street art in Victoria including hand-painted utility poles in Fernwood and art wraps on utility boxes around the city. Along with the murals on 'free walls', Victoria avoids much of the disfiguring graffiti found in other large cities.  (Arlene, foreign correspondent)
Boxing Day Cleanup
"Need to work off that big dinner? Show up in the parkade under the apartment building at 11:am on  Boxing Day, ready to work!" Twenty four people answered Warren's request resulting in a spiffed up garage area in just over one hour!
Warren saw two people having engine trouble on a stormy day. He called on Dannie to help out. Eyes on the water, like 'eyes on the street' (as Jane Jacobs reminds us) are valuable assets to public safety.

Looking from the inside out.....
This bird is a Great Blue Heron and is the same type as seen in the twilight pole sitter. He / she is often to be seen on top of the neighbour's tree. (Warren)
