Botanical Drawing Workshop

November 9, 10:30am
Orinda Library Garden Room 

Botanical artist and instructor, Catherine Watters, will introduce you to botanical art and guide you through hands on exercises to experience the practice of botanical drawing. Materials provided. Space is limited. Register online, by phone, or in person at the Orinda Library.

Herbal Gift Making for the Holidays

Thursday, November 30, 10:30am-12:00pm

Learn how to make herbal vinegar with fresh herbs and a mini-wreath from cedar, rosemary and juniper. Materials and handouts provided. Presented by Elana O'Loskey, former host of Gardening With Spirit radio show. Register online, by phone or in person.

Help Wanted! 

The Friends of the Orinda Library needs your help filling some important positions on our Board of Directors. This is a chance for you to learn some new skills—or use the ones you already have—and help support our library. We meet one Wednesday morning per month at the Orinda Library. Interested? Email news@friendsoftheorindalibrary.org, or contact our president, Pam Pulley, at 254-4450.

WRITING CONTEST COORDINATOR – Manage all aspects of annual writing contest for high school students: coordinate announcements and publicity, identify and organize judges, collect entries, coordinate judging, and announce winners.

NEWSLETTER FEATURE AUTHOR – Work closely with Friends’ board members and librarians to develop editorial calendar, research and write monthly features, provide finished articles for publishing. Help make this newsletter better than ever!

MEMBERSHIP MARKETING – Help us develop a campaign to recruit new members to the Friends. Less than 5% of Orinda households are members – we want every household to join us.  Perfect for someone with non-profit marketing experience.

The Friends of the Orinda Library is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 1956, and we’d love to have you join us!

ESL CONVERSATION GROUP
Thursdays, 1:00pm

Local volunteer ESL teachers lead group discussions with ESL learners. Free and open to all. Come talk and learn English with us!

WRITERS GROUP

Tuesdays, November 14 & 28, 6:30pm

Meet with a friendly group of beginning writers in a supportive environment to motivate, critique and inspire one another. Share two pages of your writing (any genre) and get feedback from the group.
